Butterfly Beauty 3

Hello everyone,

I've got card three in my Butterfly one sheet wonder.

The printed paper is K&Company SW Nature Butterfly layered on Stampin' Up Basic Grey. The image/sentiment is Gina K Block Greetings stamped on Very Vanilla with Nick Bantock Charcoal Grey. The embellishments are Close To My Heart Licorice Opaques.

This is a great card. Given how gorgeous this butterfly paper is, a clean and simple layout really makes the most of it.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Butterfly Beauty 2

Hello everyone,

I've another butterfly one sheet one card for you today.

The printer paper, K&Company SW Nature Butterfly, is layered on Stampin' Up So Saffron and Blue Bayou. The sentiment is DeNami Design Upright Happy Birthday stamped in Stampin' Up Marina Mist. The embellishments are Recollections Pearls. The entire card is highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.

I have to say today's card is just as lovely as yesterdays. I love being able to take advantage of the few vertical birthday sentiments I have in my stamp stash. I'm using 5" X 7" card bases so I likely won't get a ton of cards from this sheet of paper but I will be able to use some of the larger sentiment stamps I own. More of these wonderful cards to follow.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Butterfly Beauty 1

Hello everyone,

Right off I'm going to say "I'm sorry". I really thought I'd avoid doing a one sheet wonder for a while figuring you'd be bloody sick and tired of seeing them. I wasn't going to do it. I really wasn't. I am.

One of my neighbors, who I recently discovered is also a card maker, is arranging for me to spend a Saturday with her and her friends to show them how to do this great series of quick and easy cards. Of course, I just need to have some finished cards to show them. I also have other plans for these cards. A very talented woman who does all my picture framing gave me a great deal on some recent framing and, knowing she has a thing for butterflies, I want to send her some handmade cards as a thank you. Also, my mother has asked me to craft an assortment of cards for my great Aunt. I figure I'll split this one sheet wonder series between the two once I've finished the upcoming class.

The printed paper is K&Company SW Nature Butterfly. The background paper is Stampin' Up Blue Bayou textured with Craft Concepts Wings embossing folder and highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen. The sentiment is from Magenta stamped in Nick Bantock Charcoal Grey. The embellishments are Close To My Heart Licorice Opaques.

This is some of the most beautiful paper I've ever come across. These watery butterflies and positively spectacular. I just can't wait to craft the next card if only to see how it turns out. I think it is going to be a challenge to choose who is going to get which cards.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

21st Wedding Anniversary

Hello everyone,

Tomorrow my husband and I will celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary. Our years together have flown and we hope to be fortunate enough to celebrate many, many more wonderful years together.

The background paper is Stampin' Up Basic Black which was scored with a Scor-Pal. The printed paper is Making Memories Silhouette Floral Wedding layered on Canford Silver. The sentiment is Inkadinkado stamped in VersaFine on Whisper White and layered on Basic Black. The embellishments are Recollections Glitter Adhesive Dots. The entire card is highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.

My husband is a huge Oakland Raiders NFL football fan so silver and black is a really obvious colour combination for any card that I craft for him. This is maybe a little more sparklely than I would normally make but I'm ultimately choosing to describe this card as classy. He'll love it regardless, because I made it for him.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Best Wishes

Hello everyone,

I hope you managed to get through the Christmas holiday. Only a few days left until we hit 2012. Where on earth did the year go? Today's card is for one of my colleagues whose birthday is on January 3rd.

The papers are Stampin' Up Basic Black and Very Vanilla and Close To My Heart Roxie. The sentiment is Hero Arts Friends Are Treasures. The embellishments are TPC Studio Wedding Silhouettes Pearlized Brads. The card is highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.

This is exactly the card I wanted to craft. This coral pink and black color combination is beautiful. The layout is really simple and is just enough to make the beautiful roses stand out. I love it when a card comes out so wonderfully.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Christmas Blessing

Merry Christmas everyone!

For the past two years I've crafted a special Christmas card which features our adorable Chinese Shar Pei, Juno. It made specially for the dog breeder to whom we are so grateful for this marvelous addition to our family.

The background paper is DCWV Pets Stack. The image, one of my own, is layered on Stampin' Up Certainly Celery and Whisper White. The sentiment is PaperTrey Ink Signature Christmas stamped in Nick Bantock Vermillion Lacquer. The card is highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll and Pentel Gold Metallic Sunburst pens.

I think of all the 'Juno' cards I've crafted today this is my favourite. I love this particular image. He shows absolutely no interest in our Christmas tree except to sleep underneath it. How can you not love such an adorable pet. He is truly our Christmas Blessing.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Christmas Gift Tag

Happy Christmas Eve everyone!

I've a really quick gift tag for you today. It was crafted for one of my girlfriend's Christmas gifts. She gave me a great Martha Stewart punch for my birthday and I just had to do some playing.

The tag base is Bazzill. The focal layer is Recollections punched with Martha Stewart Crochet Flower Punch All Over The Page. The sentiment is PaperTrey Ink Signature Christmas. The embellishments are Autumn Leaves Adhesive Rhinestones. The tag is highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.

It was so much fun playing with this punch. I'd been looking at them but had so far resisted indulging. I'm so happy that my girlfriend indulged for me. Though not necessarily a Christmas image, I think, in the right red paper, this punch worked wonderfully for a Christmas gift tag.

I hope you enjoy this tag and come back to SPI again soon.

Kindred Cardmaker

Hello everyone,

Today's post is of a very special card. It was crafted especially for a girlfriend who, this year, discovered cardmaking. It has been an amazing and wonderful year helping her discover this amazing craft.

Masculine Merry Christmas

Hello everyone,

Today's Christmas card is for the male friend of one of my colleagues. She brought me this wrapping paper as inspiration and I decided it just had to be incorporated into his card.

The wrapping paper is layered on Stampin' Up Soft Suede. The sentiment is from Stamp Barn and is stamped in Soft Suede on Very Vanilla. The embellishments are American Crafts Mini Earth Tone brads.

I just love this masculine card. I wish I had the paper is a nice card stock. It would be awesome to make a masculine Christmas one sheet wonder. It can be a real challenge to craft male cards but paper like this is really inspiring.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Happy Retirement

Hello everyone,

Today's card is for the same friend for whom I made the one sheet wonder cards that I've been posting for the last number of days. One of her son's daycare workers is retiring and my friend wanted a special retirement card.

The paper is Stampin' Up Tall Tales, Rose Red and Old Olive. The sentiment is Stampin' Up Congrats stamped in Chocolate Chip on Whisper White and layered on Rose Red. The embellishments are The Paper Company Flower & Frills Jewels.

My friend wanted a card that was fun and somewhat playful without being overly kiddie. I had a number of ideas floating around in my mind but once I saw these balloons, I just had to use it. I tried to make it less kid-like by keeping the layout simple and adding more sophisticated brads.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Quick Christmas 1 & 2

Hello everyone,

Last week one of my girlfriends requested a set of Christmas cards for her son's daycare. It is getting rather late in the season so I decided to stick to a tried and true favourite, the one sheet wonder! I'll be posting the series over the next few days.

The patterned paper is Debbie Mumm Harvest & Holiday. The card bases are Bazzill white, Stampin' Up Real Red, Riding Hood Red and Certainly Celery, Close To My Heart Colonial White and a green of unknown origin.

I'm really pleased with this entire series. I purposefully chose some really great paper and it worked even better than I'd hoped. It was the most important element as I wanted to keep this set quick, easy and inexpensive.

I hope you enjoy these cards and come back to SPI again soon.

Another Special Birthday

Hello everyone,

I've another special birthday card today. It is one of my best friend's birthday this week and I tailor-made this card just for her.

The background paper is Close To My Heart Garnet layered on Stampin' Up Pumpkin Pie. The printed paper, also layered on Pumpkin Pie, is BasicGrey Pyrus. The sentiment is Stampin' Up Curly Cute stamped in Early Espresso on Whisper White and layered on Pumpkin Pie. The embellishments are Recollections Dimensional Stickers.
My friend is a lover of owls so cards for her are pretty much a no brainer. It really is only a matter of finding owls which appeal to me. How could I not love these particular owls! This BasicGrey paper was the perfect complement to the owls and the card turned out even better than I imagined. I know she'll love it!
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Mother's Birthday

Hello everyone,

I've a super story to go with today's card. This past Sunday, I was driving home two of the boys (one is 16 the other 14) with whom my daughter curls. They were talking about their mother's upcoming birthday and what they needed to do, including getting her a card. I offered to make them a card. I asked when her birthday was, they were not sure. I asked what her favourite colour was, they also were not sure but thought it may be blue. They did want something that would make her cry, you know, the happy tears. I told them not to worry, I'd come up with something that would work. They offered to pay me, but weren't sure about a price. I told them it would be my pleasure to make their mom's card. They then started to talk about different kinds of cards that would make nice gifts. You know, when you put together a birthday card, a get well card, a thank you card. An assortment, I offered. Yeah! Given Christmas is coming, I'm wondering if they'll muster the courage to ask for a set of cards. It should be fun! These boys are really super guys and I consider their mom a friend. I think she'll be pleased.

The background paper is Close To My Heart Magnifique layered on Pacifica and highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen. The sentiment is Stampin' Up Perfectly Penned stamped in Early Espresso on Whisper White and layered on more Pacifica. The embellishments are Close To My Heart Blue Sparkles.

I just love this card. A big part of it is the story that goes with it. I've also been saving this particular peacock paper for a really special card and this certainly fits that bill. I think the boys will feel comfortable giving their mom this card and I know that she'll love receiving it.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Gisèle

PS - the boys thought it was quite something that I'm a blogger and post a card virtually every day. I felt I passed a test.

More and More Tags

Hello everyone,

Today's post covers for more tags that were the goofs from a couple of days ago.

I'm totally addicted to crafting these little tags. They are so quick and easy. I love how just a few little scraps of paper turn into such wonderful little cards. I simply can't promise you won't see a few more over the next couple of weeks.

I hope you enjoy these tags and come back to SPI again soon.

Wishing You

Hello everyone,

I decided I wasn't quite finished with Christmas card as I wanted to use some of the new papers I've picked up over the last while.

The background paper is American Crafts Holiday Sinterklaas layered on green Recollections. The triangles are Stampin' Up Going Grey and Ridinghood Red. The sentiment is Close To My Heart Christmas Love stamped in Ridinghood Red on Whisper White. The embellishments are TPC Studio Holly Jolly Dimensional Holly Stickers. The entire card is highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.

I think this is a wonderful card. I don't often use triangles on my card but I had this triangle of grey that I thought would work. It did! I wish the holly leave were a little darker green but these are such great stickers I decided to use them anyway.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Welcome Baby

Hello everyone,

There is life beyond Christmas! Today's card is for one of my husband's colleagues whose wife is having a baby this coming January. They really like elephants so the nursery has an elephant theme. My Mom made them a really wonderful quilt, bib and bag with a great elephant on it so I've followed suit.

The printed paper is Stampin' Up Tall Tales. The solid paper is Old Olive, So Saffron and Chocolate Chip. The image is Inkadinkado Baby Animals stamped in Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight and Chocolate Chip on Whisper White. The sentiment is Stampin' Up Short and Sweet. The embellishments are Multicrafts Keepsakes Memories.

I love this card! I sometimes get so caught up in making Christmas cards, which I just love doing, that I forget how much fun other cards are too craft. This is the perfect card for our friends. I crafted this 'elephant' card for their wedding and know they kept it on display for months after their wedding. I suspect they'll do the same with this card.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Christmas Magic

Hello everyone,

I couldn't help but pull out some more of my favourite paper and pair it with a sentiment that I stamped a couple of weeks ago.

The printed paper is Bazzill Basics Holiday Style Merry Mix. It is layered on Stampin' Up Lucky Limeade. The sentiment is Close To My Heart Christmas Love stamped in Melon Mambo on Whisper White. The embellishments are Recollections Rhinestone Stickers.

I love this card. As much as I couldn't resist this Bazzill paper, I also fell in love with this Close To My Heart stamp set as soon as I'd laid eye upon it. It has a great variety of images and sentiments. I probably added a little too much silver bling but somehow I couldn't stop.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Holly Wreath

Hello everyone,

I've gone back to my scrap bin and to some images that I've previously stamped but never done anything with.

The background paper is of unknown origin. The green layer is Bazzill Basics Glazed Christmas. The image is Holiday Times stamped on Whisper White in StazOn Olive Green. It was painted with LuminArte Twinkling H2Os. The layers were highlighted with Pentel Sunburst gold metallic pen. The embellishments are Crystal Stickers Gold Pearls.

I think this is a great Christmas card. I borrowed the stamp from one of my neighbors. It had holly on it, how could I resist. I don't often use wreaths, I find it challenging to work with circles, but this card actually worked out quite well.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

One Layer Wednesday Sentiments

Hello everyone,

I've been off challenges for the last while but this week's One Layer Wednesday challenge was really appealing. It was a sentiment focused challenge using an irregular sized based.

Three of the card base are Stampin' Up Whisper White. The fourth card base is Stampin' Up Real Red. The sentiment is Stampavie Tina Wenke Holiday Wishes stamped in Cherry Cobbler, Wild Wasabi, StazOn Metallic Gold and StazOn Metallic Platinum.

I've recently developed a passion for these little gift tags. They are so quick and easy and are a great way to use up small scraps of paper. That said, when you goof up the stamp impression, you still can flub up. Two more tags coming tomorrow.

I hope you enjoy these tags and come back to SPI again soon.

I love the bright pink and the great teal background colour. Expect more cards with this paper cause I intend to use every last little bit!

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Kid Christmas I

Hello everyone,

Today's card is for the son of my sister's partner. My mom got them each a little something and wanted a kid's Christmas card. A great idea and a type of card I've never crafted before.

The patterned and yellow papers are atd. The red and green papers are Recollections. The sentiment is Impression Obsession Christmas Sentiments stamped on Stampin' Up Whisper White. The embellishments is from Handmade Card.

I didn't want to go overboard on this boys card so I focused on layering. I'm not certain I'm crazy about the yellow but it coordinated perfectly with the printed paper. It certainly works for a child's Christmas card. I think the young man for whom this card was crafted will like it just fine!

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Hello everyone,

Today's card is for my Mother. She is a huge strawberry fan so when we saw this new Stampin' Up designer series paper, it was a no brainer. I've warned her to expect strawberries on her cards for the next good while.

The background paper is Stampin' Up Berry Blossoms. The image is Frog Whiskers Ink stamped in Early Espresso on Whisper White and layered on Calypso Coral and Lucky Limeade. The sentiment is Stampin' Up Perfectly Penned. The embellishments are Recollections Faux Adhesive Pearls and Pebbles Pearl Candy Dots.

I love this card. The cat stamp is so lovely I can see myself using it often. The paper is beautiful and like a lot of Stampin' Up paper, beautiful to work with.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Holly and Shimmer III

Hello everyone,

Today I'm posting the third card in my Holly and Shimmer card series. This is a real wowie card if I do say so myself!

The background paper is a shimmery red of unknown origin (purchased on the Montreal shopping trip) textured with Sizzix Holly and Berries. The image is Outlines Large Holly Leaves Topper stamped in Stampin' Up Soft Suede, clear heat embossed and painted with Poppy Red, Forest Green and Golden Opal LuminArte Twinkling H2Os. The sentiment is Stamp Barn stamped in Forest Foliage on Very Vanilla and layered on a shimmery green of unknown origin (also acquired in Montreal).

This is a fabulous card! This image is spectacular against the shimmery red which embosses so wonderfully. You wouldn't believe the shimmery papers that I found. There are some more pretty awesome cards on the way!

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Holly and Shimmer II

Hello everyone,

Today's card is the second post using one of the new stamps I recently acquired. Where yesterday's was horizontal, today's is vertical. Either plane works great!

The card base is Autumn Leaves. The image is Outlines Large Holly Leaves Topper. It is stamped in Stampin' Up Crumb Cake, clear heat embossed and painted with Ruby Red, Douglas Fir and Golden Opal LuminArte Twinkling H2Os. The sentiment is PaperTrey Ink Signature Christmas stamped in Stampin' Up Cherry Cobbler on Very Vanilla and layered on brushed gold of unknown origin. The embellishments are TPC Studio Holly Jolly and Holly Jolly mini jewels.

I think this may be my favourite of the three cards I've got for you using this stamp. I just kept going and going with the embellishments. It turned out even better than I thought it would.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Holly and Shimmer I

Hello everyone,

Today's card uses a new holly stamp that I just picked up on a recent trip to Montreal with a cardmaking friend. It was an overwhelming trip in that we visited two stores (Scrapbook Centrale and Bonnidee) and saw a ton of great stuff we'd never seen before. I've lots of new things to play with and I can't wait to 'show and tell'.

The card base is Autumn Leaves. The image is Outlines Large Holly Leaves Topper. It is stamped in Nick Bantock Charcoal Grey, clear heat embossed then painted with Ruby Red, Douglas Fir and Golden Opal LuminArte Twinkling H2Os. The sentiment is Annabelle Stamps Holly Leaves stamped in Stampin' Up Cherry Cobbler on Whisper White and layered on a gold paper of unknown origin. The embellishments are EK Success Shimmering Gold Dots.

I love this card! Is it any surprise that I was drawn to this stamp? I wasn't sure about the size at first, there wasn't a smaller size, but figured if I used a larger card base, it would work. I thought using just half the stamp was inspired. Another reason why this stamp appealed was because it is perfect for painting.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Layered Green Thanks

Hello everyone,

The card I've got for you today is a thank you for the friend of a colleaguewho is into all things 'green'.

The printed paper is DCWV Green Stack. The solid papers are Stampin' Up Wild Wasabi, Blue Bayou, Whisper White and textured Dusty Durango. The sentiment is Hero Arts Thank You Messages stamped in Nick Bantock Deep Turquoise.

Being a 'green' card I didn't use any new papers, only scraps. I also left out any embellishments. Clean, simple and almost as 'green' as I could do.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Girly, Girly

Hello everyone,

Today's card is a complete 360 from yesterday's card. It is for a four-year-old little girl. As much as I kept things clean and simple for the uncle card, I couldn't get girly enough for today's.

I love this super girly card. I think I'm going to case it in pink! It is actually a very simple layout but with lots of extra little bits to 'girl it up'! I think it is perfect for a little glitter. I know my daughter would have loved it and I hope the little girl who is receiving it loves it too.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.
