Platinum Anniversary

Hello everyone,

Today's card was commissioned by a colleague whose in-laws were celebrating a 70th wedding anniversary.  How incredible a milestone!  I don't suppose I'll make too many platinum anniversary cards.

The printed paper is The Paper Company layered on Worldwin Silver Ore.  The image is Rubber Cafe Swirled Bells and the sentiment is Stampabilities Changes Everything, both of which were stamped in StazOn Platinum on Stampin' Up and layered on more Silver Ore.  The vertical elements are Offray Ribbon and another piece of Silver Ore punched with an EK Success punch (I don't remember which one).  The embellishments are Recollections Adhesive Faux Pearls.

I just loved crafting this cards.  There are always so many possibilities to really make these cards spectacular.  I, of course, love this paisley paper and this is one of my all time favourite wedding/anniversary sentiments.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Dynamite Dinosaur

Hello everyone,

Today's card is another little boy birthday card.  It is for my girlfriend's second son.  While his first cake was a spaceship, I couldn't resist this dinosaur.

The letters and number are K & Company Fun Alphabet Flip Pack which are adhered to Stampin' Up Whisper White and Scrapbook Walls Mini Rec Squares.  The vertical element is also Scrapbook Walls Mini Rec Squares.  The dinosaur and footprints are Karen Foster Design Dinosaurs stickers.  The 'IS' is an alphabet stamp of unknown origin.  The sentiment is Stampendous Friendly Messages.

This card is so cute I can barely contain myself.  I know my girlfriend keeps the cards I craft for her sons so I really like personalizing the boys cards.  My name is unusual enough that I know that personalisations are pretty special keepsakes.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Vroom, Vroom, Vroom

Hello everyone,

Today's card is for the young son of one of my best friends. He has turned four and I can't believe how time had just flown by.

The printed paper is Echo Park Paper Company A Boy's Life layered on Stampin' Up Not Quite Navy.  The letters are K & Company Fun Alphabet Flip Pack and are adhered to Whisper White.  The car is a TPC Studio Transportation Chipboard Spinning Wheels Sticker.  The sentiment is Verve stamped in Not Quite Navy on Whisper White and layered on more Not Quite Navy.

I just love all these cars.  They are just so perfect for a little boy card.  I was quite surprised when I was looking through my sticker stash to find this one last car sticker.  It works wonderfully with the car paper and I thought it was quite ingenious to adhere it so it appears to be coasting along the name.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Beautiful Botanical Birthday

Hello everyone,

Tomorrow is my mother-in-law's birthday.  This is the card I crafted for her.

The printed paper is Glick W205 layered on Stampin' Up Brocade Blue and Rich Razzleberry.  The sentiment is DeNami Designs Upright Happy Birthday stamped in Rich Razzleberry on Whisper White and layered on more Brocade Blue and Rich Razzleberry.  The embellishments are Kaisercraft Basics green pearls.

Is this not the most incredible paper?  It is wrapping paper.  I recently had an appointment near a local paper shop and couldn't resist taking a quick peek.  When I saw this sheet of paper, I just had to have it.  It is so striking, with amazing colors and just a little bit of green.  It is smooth and silky and wonderful with which to craft.  It is so remarkable easy when the paper you're working with is so awesome!  It was a really large piece so I cut it down and was able to gift some of it to a couple of friends.  There is a little break in the images on the paper which made placement of this sentiment so easy.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Busy Birthday

Hello everyone,

This is the time of year when almost half my family has birthdays.  The is my sister-in-laws card.

The printed paper is BasicGrey Euphoria layered on Stampin' Up Melon Mambo and Certainly Celery.  The vertical elements are Offray ribbon (I think) and a piece of Melon Mambo punched with an EK Success border punch (don't remember which one).  The sentiment is Sweet & Sassy Script Birthdays stamped in Melon Mambo on Whisper White, layered on Certainly Celery and highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.  The embellishments are Dollarama Glittering Stickers and Recollections Rhinestones.

For some reason, when I was recording the elements I used in this card I forgot a few. Once, I'm back home, I'll edit this post.  This is not my favourite card.  There are too many elements and though I used a tried and true layout, it is just too much of too much.  I think I should have foregone the ribbon and pink embellishments.  It's done and gone now though so I'll try to remember for next time.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

What To Do, What To Do

Hello everyone,

Yesterday was my husband's birthday and this is the card I crafted for him. It is not my usual. I'm out of town and while I thought I'd make it home for his big day, it just didn't work out like I'd hoped. I didn't have time to craft his card before I left so I decided to see what I could do while I'm on the road without any supplies at all. Most people need a drug or grocery store when they are away, I need a Michael's!

The printed papers are Recollections cardstock and Green Faux Canvas.  The sentiment is a Me & My Big Ideas Soft Spoken sticker affixed to the back of a piece of the blue background paper and layered on the right side of the background paper.  The images are Momenta Stickers.  The ribbon is Recollections.

I have no cutter, no stamps, no ink, no Big Shot, dies or embossing folders.  This is still a mighty fine card!  I knew without a cutter I wouldn't get straight lines so I decided to use a straight edge and tear.  Those who know me will understand that this makes me cringe in the worst possible way.  I like things all neat and tidy.  I found this great ribbon in the bargain bin for 79 cents!  All the leftovers, I can use on other cards once I'm home again.  I have to say, I'm pretty proud of myself.  I know my husband will miss me not being there for his birthday but he'll know that I was thinking of him and that I love him dearly!

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Glitter Galore

Hello everyone,

Today's Christmas card is the last in the series of thank you cards that I crafted for a girlfriend.  It is another favourite.

The printed paper is American Crafts POW! Powder Mittens glitter paper layered on DCWV Tis The Season and Stampin' Up Whisper White that was covered with Stampendous Crystal Snow glitter.  The image is Inkadinkado Holiday Sentiments stamped in Taken With Teal on Whisper White and heat embossed with Close To My Heart Silver Pearl embossing powder.  The ribbon is Michael's Home and More.  The embellishments are Queen & Co Twinkle Goosebumps.

This is just an awesome card!  The heat embossed teal coordinates perfectly with the incredible glittered mitten paper.  I don't use this set of Inkadinkado images all the often but I can't seem to let them go as they are really great images.  In this particular case, it is perfect for the paper.  I really love the words within the image as it negates the requirement for a separate sentiment.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Purple Flurries

Hello everyone,

Another really fun and off-the-wall Christmas card for my girlfriend's thank you gift.

The printed paper is Cosmo Cricket Mitten Weather Flurries layered on Stampin' Up Perfect Plum.  The second layer was covered with Glitter Ritz Cool Highlight Microfine glitter.  The vertical, Perfect Plum border was punched with Martha Stewart Gothic Arches border punch.  The sentiment is Stampendous Script Greeting stamped in Perfect Plum on Very Vanilla and layered on more Perfect Plum.  The ribbon is Offray.  The embellishments are Recollections Glitter Adhesive Dots.

The funky ribbon is what really makes this card perfect for my girlfriend.  I'm not sure why I bought it, it is so not me, but I'm sure glad I did.  The Recollections embellishments couldn't work better with the ribbon.  This is another rather normal layout but like the earlier card, it doesn't seem like it.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

All About The Ornaments

Hello everyone,

This Christmas card is especially fun!

The printed paper is Kaisercraft Christmas Carnival layered on a metallic Rose Red of unknown origin and DCWV Tis The Season.  The image is a Peel-Offs Xmas Balls outline sticker glittered with Martha Stewart Golden Beryl, Kunzite, Turquoise and Florentine Gold, and Craft Décor glitters.  The sentiment is My Sentiments Exactly Holiday Sentiments stamped in Close To My Heart Twilight ink on Whisper White.  The embellishments are Crystal Stickers gold Glitter Domes.

Some years it's been holly, other years, snowflakes, this year, I'm really into Christmas ornaments.  I think it is because they are so fun to glitter, turn out spectacularly and really remind me of the ornaments on our family tree when I was growing up.  The paper was irresistible - ornaments in non-traditional colours.  You'll see more of this over the season.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Merry Stockings

Hello everyone,

Today I've another really fun Christmas card for you.

The printed paper is Echo Park Paper Company Holly Jolly Christmas layered on DCWV Tis The Season and Stampin' Up Early Espresso.  The sentiment is Technique Tuesday Jingle All The Way stamped in Early Espresso on Whisper White and layered on more DCWV.  The ribbon is Stampin' Up Melon Mambo Polka Dot.  The entire card was highlighted with Diamond Stickles.

Like yesterday's snowflakes, these stockings are just fun!  The sentiment, a new set for me, worked perfectly with the paper.  The graphic lines of the words match the graphic lines in the stockings.  Once again, two entirely different companies whose products come together so wonderfully.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Shockingly Sweet Snowflakes

Hello everyone,

Another Christmas card today!  Once I started with the snowflakes, I kept going.

The printed paper is Echo Park Paper Company Holly Jolly Christmas layered on Stampin' Up Melon Mambo and DCWV Tis The Season.  The sentiment is Stampendous Retro Script Christmas stamped in Melon Mambo on Whisper White and layered on more Melon Mambo.  The snowflakes are glittered Very Vanilla paper punched with a Martha Stewart punch.  The embellishments are TPC Studio Christmas Cheer and Queen and Company Iridescent Rhinestones.

This paper always makes me smile.  Whoever thought it up and was brave enough to print it was brilliant!  I never craft a card without that doesn't leave me happy.  It is perfect for adding just a few pretty jewels, making it even cheerier.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Snowflake Shimmer

Hello everyone,

The next few cards, part of the thank you gift I crafted for a friend, are Christmas cards.  I couldn't give her a gift of cards without including my favourite, Christmas cards.  Her love of glitter, sparkle and colour really allowed me to go a little on the wilder side.  Enjoy!  It doesn't happen often!

The printed paper is TPC Studio layered on Recollections and Canson Stygian Black.  The images are Stampin' Up Serene Snowflakes stamped in Melon Mambo and Versafine Onyx Black on Whisper White and heat embossed with Close To My Heart Silver Pearl.  The sentiment is Serendipity.  The embellishments are Recollections Glitter Adhesive Dots.

Who knew pink and black could make such an awesome Christmas card.  I've used this paper before but it is really distinctive and is not for everyone.  This is certainly a favourite layout of mine - I like the symmetry - but it doesn't feel old and tired.  I love the bold sentiment from Serendipity.  With these bold graphics and colours, I had to use a strong sentiment.  I think this could well be one of my best cards in this series.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Pretty In Purple

Hello everyone,

This is the sixth card in this thank you series.  The remaining six cards are Christmas cards and they'll post over the next few days.  I hope you enjoy them as much as she did.

The printed paper is Stampin' Up Cheerful Treat layered on Stampin' Up Lucky Limeade.  The image is Hero Arts Tall Flowers stamped in StazOn Jet Black on watercolour paper and painted with LuminArte Royal Orchid, Wild Plum, English Lavender, Razzleberry, Lemongrass and Olive Vine Twinkling H2Os.  The image is layered on Elegant Eggplant, Lucky Limeade and Perfect Plum.  The sentiment is Verve Amazing Wishes also stamped in StazOn Jet Black.  The embellishments are Crafts Gem Chic.

I think this is one of my favourite, non-Christmas cards in this series.  It is not tremendously sparkly but it is purple and she just loves purple.  I also like the layout, with the bottom layered affixed on an angle.  It left just the right amount of room for this tiny sentiment.  The printed paper works just perfectly with the image even though the companies are different.  This is something I love about crafting these cards.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Glittering Roses

Hello everyone,

Today's card is another in the thank you series I've crafted for a friend.

The printed paper is BasicGrey Euphoria layered on Stampin' Up Whisper White and Melon Mambo.  The image is Hero Arts Delicate Rose Stems stamped in StazOn Olive Green on watercolour paper and painted with a variety of LuminArte Twinkling H2Os.  The sentiment is Hero Arts Thoughtful Messages also stamped in StazOn Olive Green on Whisper White.  The embellishments are Close To My Heart Bitty Sparkles and Dollarama Glittering Stickers.

This is another really pretty and sparkling card that is just perfect for my friend.  I love painting with Twinkling H2Os.  They just make me look like more of a painter than I really am.  These strips of embellishments are also amazing.  You get a couple of hundred embellishments for only a couple of dollars.  Tons of great colours, lots of options and great value!

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Layers of Leopard

Hello everyone,

This is just a really fun card crafted for the gift I'm making for a friend.

The printed paper is BasicGrey Little Black Dress layered on Worldwin Bronze Metallic and Vanilla Shimmer.  The sentiment is Denami stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on Stampin' Up Very Vanilla, layered on more Bronze Metallic and highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.  The ribbon is Crafts.  The embellishment are Queen & Co Goosebumps.

I always knew I'd make a great card with this paper.  It is so not my usual but I know it is perfect for my friend.  I love how this ribbon, from the dollar store, works perfectly with this paper.  It's not what I had in mind when I got underway but it could be better.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Butterflied Beauty

Hello everyone,

Card three in the latest 'thank you' gift series.

The printed paper is docrafts Papermania Lucy Cromwell layered on Stampin' Up Perfect Plum and Whisper White.  The butterflies are punched from Stampin' Up silver Glimmer paper.  The sentiment is Annabelle Stamps Square Posies stamped in Perfect Plum on Whisper White and layered on more Perfect Plum.  The ribbon is Sheer Creations.  The embellishments are Close To My Heart Purple Sparkles.

This is a new pad of paper that I found while surfing.  It is all shades of pink, blue, purple and green with some really wonderful graphics and glitter.  I can't wait to use it.  I'd not originally intended to add ribbon but it needed just a something more and this sheer rainbow ribbon worked perfectly.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Glittered Happiness

Hello everyone,

Today's card is the second in the 'thank you' gift series for a friend.

The printed paper is DCWV All Dressed Up layered on Canson Stygian Black.  The image is a Peel-Offs outline sticker layered with Martha Stewart Onyx, Peridot, Sterling and Turquoise glitter.  The sentiment is Close To My Heart Joyful Birthday stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on Stampin' Up Whisper White and layered on Lucky Limeade and more Stygian Black.

It was a given that this card would have a big, glitter flower.  It was too easy to coordinate with the paper.  It is so sparkly and pretty and wonderful!  I didn't need to add anything extra to this card as all this glitter just speaks for itself.  I would love to receive a card like this!

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Pleasing Polka Dots

Hello everyone,

While my husband and I were out of my town, my daughter stayed with a friend's family.  This series of cards is part of the 'thank you' gift I crafted for them.

The printed paper is DCWV All Dressed Up layered on a pink of unknown origin.  The sentiment is Inkadinkado Calligraphy Celebration stamped in Stampin' Up Melon Mambo on Very Vanilla and heat embossed with Close To My Heart Silver Pearl.  It is layered on Recollections Silver and more pink of unknown origin.  The brad is from Multicrafts.

The friend to whom this series of cards is being gifts likes bright, shiny and colourful.  This is going to make for some really fun cards.  It is great to let go a bit and have the freedom to craft cards that are somewhat on the wild and fun side.  I really hope her taste in greeting cards runs along the same lines as what I see in her home and her fashion.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Golden Glamour

Hello everyone,

Today's card is just awesome!

The printed paper is Kaisercraft December 25th Hark layered on Worldwin Vanilla and Canford Gold.  The image is Inkadinkado Holiday Silhouettes stamped on Very Vanilla, heat embossed with Close To My Heart gold embossing powder and layered on more Canford Gold.  The sentiment is Verve Glad Tidings stamped in Early Espresso and highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.  The embellishments are Queen & Co Pearls.

I've been trying to use more stamped images on my cards since the 'Christmas In July' series.  This is one that I'm really glad I used.  Gold heat embossing makes it just incredible!  Against the gold and vanilla paper, it's a pretty spectacular card.  I'm often asked for more spiritual Christmas cards as they can be pretty hard to find these days so it was great to combine all these elements together.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Pretty In Pink

Hello everyone,

As you can see, I didn't get quite enough of 'Christmas In July'.

The printed paper is Bazzill Basics Holiday Style Merry Mix layered on Stampin' Up Melon Mambo and Lucky Limeade.  The image and sentiment are Verve Bright Spirits stamped in Melon Mambo on Whisper White and layered on more Melon Mambo.  The image is highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.  The ribbon is Dashes, Dots and Checks.  The embellishments are Recollections Glitter Adhesive Dots.

I fall more in love with this paper each time I use it!  The bright colours and simple line images are wonderful.  It's easy to craft really awesome cards when you've got such great paper to work with.  I wasn't too certain about the embellishments and in hindsight I probably wouldn't have used them like this but would have folded over the corner and used just one small dot.  It needed something however to balance out the element.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Spectacularly Sparkly

Hello everyone,

Another of my colleagues is heading off to a new job and I wanted to craft her something really special.

The image is Elizabeth Craft Designs glittered with Stickles purple and yellow dry fine glitter, Martha Stewart Charoite, Golden Beryle, Peridot and Turquoise glitter, and Studio K Forest Green ultrafine glitter.  The image is layered on Worldwin purple, Stampin' Up Very Vanilla, and Canford Gold.  The sentiment is Annabelle Stamps Square Posies stamped in Elegant Eggplant.

The photo doesn't do this card any justice.  In reality, it is much brighter and more shiny.  The colours just pop!  I really love doing this glitter technique.  Though it is messy, the results are just spectacular.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Bumps and Stripes

Hello everyone,

Today's card is for a colleague whose moving on to a new job.

The printed papers are Cosmo Cricket Art Angel layered on textured Bazzill Basics and Stampin' Up Soft Suede.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up Perfectly Penned stamped in Soft Suede on Very Vanilla and layered on more Bazzill Basics.  The brads are of unknown origin.

I was a little hesitant about this card.  The red makes it seem a little more feminine than I had planned but I wasn't in the mood for the usual blues, browns, blacks, greys and greens.  I thought the textured vertical element added some masculinity but I'm thinking it would have been better done in Soft Suede as opposed to the red.  My fingers are crossed that it will work for him.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Thinking of You

Hello everyone,

Ever since the Poinsettia Perfection card I crafted for 'Chritmas In July', I've been keen to keep trying this double-stamping technique.

The printed paper is K&Company Brenda Walton layered on Close To My Heart Vanilla Cream and Stampin' Up River Rock.  The image, Close To My Heart You Are Beautiful, is stamped on Very Vanilla in Almost Amethyst, Barely Banana, Blush Blossom, Crumb Cake, Pale Plum, River Rock, and Color Box Pinwheel.  The image is layered on more River Rock.  The sentiment is Gina K Block Greetings stamped in River Rock and highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.  The ribbon is of unknown origin.  The embellishments are Martha Stewart Pastel Mini Pearls.

This card is for my sister's mother-in-law who is having some health issues.  She is a wonderful lady who has an incredible green thumb.  I thought a flower-filled card would make her feel better.  I'm really enjoying the two-step stamps, I actually wish I had a few more of these types of stamps to see what I can do with them.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Happy Anniversary

Hello everyone,

Today I'm posting the last card in this 'black and white' one sheet wonder series.  It has been a great set of cards to craft.

The printed paper is atd Black Tie layered on Bazzill Basics and Stampin' Up Basic Black.  The sentiment is Verve Love Story stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on Whisper White.  The ribbon is Michael's Craftsmart.  The embellishments are Crystal Stickers Silver Glitter Domes.

I thought I'd try a more burgundy red ribbon on this card and it certainly didn't disappoint.  This deep burgundy is just beautiful against the paisley paper.  This has been a really fun series.  I have another few sheets of this wonderful paper so I'd expect to see more cards like this down the road.

I hope you enjoy this card and this series and come back to SPI again soon.

Christmas Ribbon

Hello everyone,

I think this is the first time I've ever used a ribbon as a sentiment.

The printed paper is atd Black Tie layered on Stampin' Up Basic Black and Canford Silver.  The ribbon is Michael's Holiday Cheer layered on Bazzill Basics.  The embellishments are Recollections Adhesive Rhinestones.

I picked this ribbon up from a girlfriend and was inspired to try it on one of these 'black and white' one sheet wonder cards.  I've done every other type of card with this paper so why not a Christmas card?  It certainly worked beautifully!

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

A Lifetime

Hello everyone,

Today's card is just lovely!

The printed paper is atd Black Tie layered on Stampin' Up Basic Black.  The bottom layer is Penny Black Paisley Swirls stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on Whisper White, heat embossed with Close To My Heart Silver Pearl and layered on Stampin' Up Basic Black.  The sentiment is Verve Love Story stamped in Onyx Black on Bazzill Basics, layered on more Basic Black and highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.  The embellishments are Close To My Heart Licorice Opaques.

I love this card.  I don't often use this paisley background stamp because it is a really odd sized impressions.  It works perfectly for this card and I've love the paisleys on paisley.  The silver pearl embossing also came out wonderfully.  It's great when this happens.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Hello everyone,

You can't get much simpler than today's card.

The printed paper is atd Black Tie layered on Stampin' Up Real Red.  The sentiment is Verve Love Story stamped in Real Red.  The embellishments are Close To My Heart Licorice Opaques.

Sometimes, simple is just the most beautiful.

Mr & Mrs

Hello everyone,

Today's card is a bit of a happy accident.

The printed paper is atd Black Tie layered on Recollections Foil and Canford silver textured with Cuttlebug's Victoria embossing folder.  The sentiment is American Crafts Wedding stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on Stampin' Up Whisper White and layered on Real Red.  The embellishments are Close To My Heart Licorice Opaques.

I found this vertical scrap of silver that was already embossed in my scrap bin.  My Big Shot is kaput so I'm not in a position to do any embossing or cutting at the moment.  It goes with the paisleys so wonderfully.  I also came across the sentiment after using another stamp from this set in yesterday's card.  I love it when cards come together like this.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Paisley Perfection

Hello everyone,

I just had to pull out my paisley stamps for at least one of these cards.

The printed paper is atd Black Tie layered on Stampin' Up Basic Black.  The images are Impression Obsession MD Paisleys stamped in Versafine Onyx Black and highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.  The sentiment is American Crafts Wedding also stamped in Versafine Onyx Black.  The embellishments are Close To My Heart Licorice Opaques.

I so lovely paisley!  This image couldn't work any better with this paper.  It took me a couple of tries to get the positions just right.  I actually used some scrap paper the size of the card base to get it just right.  It certainly beat messing up card bases.  I think balancing the embellishments and the images as well as the tiny sentiment really work well.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Popping Red

Hello everyone,

I love today's pop of red on this card.

The printed paper is atd Black Tie layered on Stampin' Up Basic Black and Real Red.  The sentiment is Stampabilities Changes Everything stamped in Real Red on Whisper White.  The embellishments are Close To My Heart Licorice Opaques.

This is a much more satisfying red result than yesterday's card.  I think its the balance of three between the sentiment and the red background layer.  This is another favourite wedding/anniversary sentiment which I use often.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.
