Tree of Thanks

Hello everyone,

I had mixed feeling about this piece of donated scrap paper but decided to see what I could do.

The printed paper is of unknown origin.  The sentiment is Hero Arts Thank You Tree stamped in Stampin' Up Pear Pizzazz on Recollections Vanilla and layered on Ruby Red.  The butterfly is die cut with Sizzix Bold Butterflies Framelits from watercolour paper that was smooshed with a variety of Stampin' Up Watercolor crayons.  The embellishment is Stampin' Up Subtle Candy Dots.

I think this was a tough paper to use because of the style and colour options.  I was in the mood to play with watercolour crayons but I don't think this particular die cut was the best choice.  The colours are all right but the style is off.  I had hoped that mutedness of the technique would work with the vintage style of the paper but something was off.  I'm also not convinced about the candy dot.  It's not quite the right colour nor, I think the right choice.  I'm not completely unhappy with this card but I don't feel it's my best effort.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

A Burst Of Pink

Hello everyone,

I had enough mosaic paper to craft another card.  I decided to make this one horizontal and add a splash of bright pink.

The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on Stampin' Up Basic Black.  The sentiment is Avery Elle So Happy stamped in Melon Mambo on Recollections White.  The banners are die cut with Sizzix Banners Framelits from Melon Mambo.  The ribbon is of unknown origin.  The embellishments are Kaisercraft Pearl Strips.

As much as I loved the pop of red in this card, I love the pop of bright pink on this card.  Against the black, it is wonderful!  I think the horizontal mosaic is really interesting.  I don't think it is how you'd normally see it, but it is great when everything else is horizontal.  This scrap of ribbon was also in the donation box and I decided to use it even though it's a titch paler than the Melon Mambo banners.  I thought this would make a great bridal shower card, hence the sentiment.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Black And White

Hello everyone,

There was some really wonderful black and white printed paper in the box of donated supplies that I found very inspiring.

The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on Stampin' Up Basic Black.  The images are Stampin' Up Mosaic Madness stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on Whisper White and layered on more Basic Black.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up Itty Bitty Banners also stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on Whisper White and die cut with Sizzix Bitty Banners Framelits.  The embellishments are Pebbles Candy Dots.

I really love the mosaic shape so when I saw this paper in the box, I was thrilled.  I also love this colour combination.  I do wish the Bitty Banners would die cut better.  No matter what I try, I seem to have issues getting them straight.  I'll keep trying but it is frustrating.  Notwithstanding the skewed sentiment, I think this is a great card.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Blossoms In Orange

Hello everyone,

I'm not usually all that fussy on dots but I found this donated scrap appealing.

The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on Stampin' Up Mossy Meadow.  The images are Stampin' Up Garden In Bloom stamped in Tangerine Tango, Old Olive, and Mossy Meadow, and Close To My Heart Sunset on Whisper White.  The sentiment is Avery Elle Oh Happy Day stamped in Mossy Meadow.  The embellishments are Doodlebug assorted mini pearls and Keepsakes Memories.

I find dots can sometimes be a challenge because its can be hard not to make them appear off once the paper is cut.  These dots are a great scale for a card and I love the colours.  The two-step flowers are always a favourite as is this layout.  I had to mix up the embellishments because I didn't have enough of one type for all the flowers but it worked out wonderfully.  It's a great result.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

For A Little Girl

Hello everyone,

Today's post is the little girl version of yesterday's card.

The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on a textured blue Bazzill.  The image is Stampin' Up Gorgeous Grunge stamped in Pacific Point on Recollections Vanilla and layered on more textured blue Bazzill.  The sentiment is Gina Marie All Seasons stamped in Versafine Onyx Black.  The embellishments are butterflies punched from leftover pieces of the printed paper and covered with microbeads of unknown origin.

I love this card as much as yesterday's.  I thought it was inspired to use the scraps for the butterflies.  I wanted some sparkle, because girls love sparkle, but wasn't in the mood for glittering so when I found the microbeads in my stash I decided to play.  They are wonderful.  I think I should play some more...

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

For A Little Guy

Hello everyone,

I found two pieces of striped pieces of paper in the box of donations.  The primary colours inspired me to craft a couple of kids cards.  I thought it would be fun to craft nearly identical boy and girl cards.

The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on a textured Bazzill blue.  The vertical stripe is Stampin' Up Gorgeous Grunge stamped in Pacific Point on Very Vanilla and layered on more Bazzill blue.  The sentiment is Gina Marie All Seasons stamped in Versafine Onyx Black.  The embellishment is Dress It Up.

These are some bold and beautiful diagonal stripes!  I love how the sentiment is like the airplane exhaust.  I had second thoughts about placing the sentiment on the vertical because if the card is turned on the horizontal the plane looks like its crashing - oops!  I chose this particular grunge stamp because it struck me somewhat like runway markings.  I'm very happy with the final result.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Bursts Of Red

Hello everyone,

Every once in a while I end up crafting a card that amazes me!  Today's post is one such card.

The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on Stampin' Up Basic Black.  The image is Close To My Heart Fabulous You stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on Whisper White and layered on more Basic Black.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up Four Square also stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on Whisper White and layered on more Basic Black.  The images are coloured with Stampin' Up Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities.  The embellishments are Kaisercraft black pearl strips.

You can't go wrong with grey, black, red and white.  It always pops.  Colouring the single flowers of each stamp with the Cherry Cobbler makes this card pop even more.  I never anticipated when I started this card that this would be the result.  I absolutely love it!  This is one of those cards that I think I could craft over and over again.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Quick And Cute

Hello everyone,

Things rather got away from me today so I just crafted a really quick but quite cute card today.

The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on a textured blue also of unknown origin.  The image and sentiment is Inkadinkado Garden Greetings stamped on Stampin' Up Very Vanilla in Close To My Heart Topiary and layered on more texture blue of unknown origin.  The ribbon is American Crafts.  The embellishments are TPC Studio Rustic Garden mini jewels.

This printed paper is from the box of donations by a wonderful local scrapbooking store. I chose it for today's charity card because the paper is so very pretty and I thought it would work well with this all-in-one image/sentiment stamp.  It did!  I was also really drawn to the lovely colours as they work with just about everything and it was a good way to work with some of the scraps I've got on hand.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Dashes of Glitter

Hello everyone,

The supplies that were donated for the charity cards contained some great Christmas goodies.  My love of Christmas cards makes these scraps irresistible.

The card base is a shimmery green of unknown origin.  The printed paper is also of unknown origin layered on Simple Stories December Documented.  The image is Stampin' Up Dasher stamped in Wild Wasabi on Whisper White and layered on more December Documented. The sentiment is Stampin' Up More Merry Messages stamped in Versafine Onyx Black.  The embellishment is Recollections Adhesive Embellishments.  The card is highlighted with Xmas Red Stickles.

This is a really cute paper (and there is lots of it!) but it's not as easy to work with as I had hoped.  The banner of images crosses the paper in such a way that it makes for adding images and a sentiment rather difficult.  I'm going to have to be really creative to find something that I like and then make a whole bunch the same.  It's something I really hate doing but there are so many scraps of this paper I don't know how I'll manage to use them all up.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Wondrous Wings

Hello everyone,

Today's charity card is going to be really hard to donate.

The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on Stampin' Up Basic Black.  The image is Stampin' Up Watercolor Wings stamped in Pale Plum and Perfect Plum, and Tsukineko Brilliance Starlite Black on Whisper White.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up Express Yourself stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on Whisper White.  The embellishments are Eyelet Outlet Enamel Dots.

There was just one little square of this beautiful paper so I cut it very carefully in order to get two cards with it.  If I had seen it in the store I would have bought multiple sheets.  I wish I could colour because a coloured butterfly would have been utterly amazing!  I have a couple of intricate butterfly dies that I will use the next time.  Maybe with some alcohol inked glossy paper.  Lots of possibilities running through my brain now.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Prettily Pink

Hello everyone,

After yesterday's mega boy card I decided today's card needed to be girly pretty.

The printed paper is Pebbles "Birthday Wishes" Sprinkles layered on a textured pink of unknown origin and Close To My Heart Honey.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up Sassy Salutations stamped in Cotton Candy on Whisper White, layered on more Honey and textured pink, and highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.  The embellishments are Recollections Glitter Shapes.

I'm not as happy with this card as I was with the robot card.  I love the 'sprinkles' but the butterflies just don't add enough pop.  This is hindsight of course.  I should have looked at cupcake punch art!  I have more of this confetti paper so I'll try that next.  Thank goodness for Pinterest!

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Blast of Bots

Hello everyone,

Today's card is just awesome!

The printed papers are Kaisercraft "Blast Off" Planet.  The sentiment is Stampendous Graceful Birthday stamped in Close To My Heart Tulip on Stampin' Up Whisper White.  The embellishments are atd Boys Will Be Boys stickers.

This is another one of those cards I wish I could keep!  I love this paper!  When I saw it in the boxes of donated supplies, I was pretty sure I could match it up with these stickers but I didn't realize just how well it would work.  With the busy background paper and the large sticker, I really kept this card simple.  I didn't want to be overwhelmed by too much 'stuff' or a more intricate layout.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Banner-ific

Hello everyone,

Today's charity card is my favourite so far!

The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on Stampin' Up Basic Black.  The sentiment is Magenta stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on Whisper White and layered on more Basic Black.  The green and blue banners are of unknown origin (possibly American Crafts and atd) and Basic Black die cut from Sizzix Banners Framelits.  The embellishments are Fabricland.

I absolutely love this card!  I have a girlfriend who says 'blue and green should never be seen except in the washing machine' but I think it doesn't apply when you add a bit of black on a white background.  I think finding the green and blue scraps that worked with the printed paper was the hardest part of crafting this card.  I never thought, when I bought the 'Banners' Framelits that I would use it so very much.  I almost want to keep this card for myself!

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Retro Birthday Stripes

Hello everyone,

Today's charity card uses more scraps that were donated to the cause.

The textured card base and printed papers are of unknown origin.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up Four Square stamped in Old Olive on Whisper White and layered on more printed paper.  The embellishments are Fabricland.

I really love this card.  I so wish I had had some teardrop embellishments as they would have worked perfectly with the background design.  This is intended as a masculine birthday card and I think it works great.  It's not at all fussy and the colours are wonderful.  It strikes me as somewhat 60's or 70's inspired.  Everything old is new again!

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

So, So Happy

Hello everyone,

Today's charity card is a very simple beauty.

The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on Stampin' Up Basic Grey.  The sentiment is Avery Elle So Happy stamped in Basic Grey on Whisper White.  The ribbon is Crafts.  The embellishments are Mark Richards 3mm Silver Metals.

One of the principles behind the charity cards is to keep it simple.  The cards are not suppose to use an inordinate amount of supplies or take eons to craft.  This is an example of quick and easy.  In less than ten minutes, it came together beautifully.  I was tempted to add an image (I have a Stampin' Up one that would be perfect) but decided to save that for another card.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

So, So Softly

Hello everyone,

It's been a wicked day so I decided to make a really soft and sweet card to lift my spirits.

The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on a soft green scrap also of unknown origin.  The images are Stampin' Up Four Feathers stamped in Almost Amethyst and Mint Melody on Whisper White and die cut with Sizzix Four Feathers Framelits.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up Lotus Blossom stamped in Close To My Heart Smoky Plum.  The ribbon is Crafts.

For the next while, my plan is to work on cards that will be sold at the Fall charity card sale at the office.  This is just the beginning.  We were extremely fortunate to have a couple of boxes of supplies donated to our efforts.  I really can't wait to play with all the goodies.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Starbursts Scraps IV

Hello everyone,

Today's post is the last starburst card top that I messed up when I was crafting an earlier starburst card.

The printed papers are scraps of unknown origin layered on a blue of unknown origin (likely My Mind's Eye) and Stampin' Up Apricot Appeal.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up Another Thank You stamped in Baja Breeze on Recollections Vanilla and layered on more leftover blue and highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.  The banners were punched from Apricot Appeal.  The dots are Sea Glass Stickles.

I think this is my favourite of the five starburst cards I crafted.  I love the greens and blues and though I'm not a big fan of Apricot Appeal, it is perfect with these scraps.  I love this big sentiment on the smaller scale card.  Although I wish it hadn't taken me five tries to get these starburst cards to work, I'm sure happy with the end results.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Starbursts Scraps III

Hello everyone,

Today's post is the third starburst top I saved from the recycle bin.

The printed papers are scraps of unknown origin layered on Stampin' Up Pistachio Pudding and a light blue of unknown origin.  The image is Stampin' Up Just Believe stamped in Wild Wasabi on Recollections Vanilla and layered on more Pistachio Pudding.  The sentiment is also Stampin' Up Just Believe, stamped in Early Espresso on Recollections Vanilla.  The embellishments are Keepsakes Memories from Multicrafts.

I was thinking of a more masculine card when I was pulling these papers together but I'm not all that certain it would work for a man.  It would be an appropriate card for a man to give to a woman.  I don't have the Pistachio Pudding ink and was rather surprised at how well the paper works with the Wild Wasabi ink.  I'll remember that for another time.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Starbursts Scraps II

Hello everyone,

Today's post is the second starburst card I resurrected from the recycle bin.

The printed papers are of unknown origin from the scrap bin layered on a purple also of unknown origin.  The vertical element was punched with EK Success Retro Flower border punch.  The butterflies were punched from scraps of watercolour paper, coloured with watercolour crayons and covered with Glitter Ritz microfine transparent glitter.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up Teeny Tiny Wishes stamped in Elegant Eggplant on Recollections Vanilla.  The embellishments are Crafts Rhinestone Strips.

Obviously I was intent on some super bright and cheerful starbursts!  I love crafting this cards not only because they use up leftovers but being able to use such a mix of patterns is awesome!  I realize this is quite lively for a get well card but my thinking was that it would cheer up the recipient.  I will put this series of cards in the stash for the Fall charity card sale at the office.  Of course, I may end up using it before the sale.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Starbursts Scraps I

Hello everyone,

As I was crafting last Monday's Sunny Starburst card, I ended up with a number of botched attempts because of bad dimensions.  Rather than throw them in the recycle bin, I decided to see if I could use them.

The printed papers are scraps of unknown origin layered on Stampin' Up Gumball Green.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up Four You stamped in Early Espresso on Recollections Vanilla and layered on more Gumball Green.  The embellishments are Recollections Glitter Shapes.

If you look closely at the bottom left corner, you'll notice the triangles are misshaped and not in pattern sequence - the bad dimensions I wrote about above.  Given the patterns and layout make this so busy, I figured overlapping the triangles would at least make the sunburst layer usable and it most certainly worked.  I love these cheerful colours and patterns.  It took me a bit to find some embellishments that worked but these glitter shapes are perfect!

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Another Wedding Butterfly

Hello everyone,

As I wasn't completely satisfied with yesterday's wedding card so decided to try again going in a somewhat different direction.

The image is Stampin' Up Swallowtail stamped in Illuminate ink on Concord Crush and layered on Precious Metals Pearlized Gold Leaf.  The sentiment is Fiskars Just Married stamped in Elegant Eggplant on Whisper White and layered on more Pearlized Gold Leaf.  The embellishments are ZVA Creative Self Adhesive pearls.

From the moment I saw the Illuminate ink in the Stampin' Up catalog, I've been intrigued by it.  I've done a bit of layered stamping with it but the results were less than anticipated.  I did some research online and found a few explanations.  The Illuminate ink is considered a watermark ink.  It shows up better against dark background as opposed to lighter ones.  On the dark Concord Crush the depth of the image depends on the angle of the light.  I had hoped for more shimmer but it actually came out more grey than shimmery.  The final result is actually pretty simple thus the addition of the gold pearl  embellishment flourish.  I'm completely undecided on this one.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Wedding Butterfly

Hello everyone,

I'm still using some of the Watercolor Butterflies I have been experimenting with over the past few days.

The butterfly die cut is Stampin' Up Watercolor Butterflies stamped in Colorbox Gold, Versafine Onyx Black, and Tsukineko Starlite Black and Pearlescent Crimson Brilliance on Recollections Vanilla.  The butterfly was highlighted with Wink of Stella Clear 999 and was die cut with Sizzix Bold Butterfly Framelit.  The background images are Technique Tuesday Fanfare stamped in StazOn Metallic Platinum on Blackberry Bliss, layered on a shimmery oyster of unknown origin, and highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.  The sentiment is Inkadinkado stamped in StazOn Metallic Platinum and heat embossed with Close To My Heart silver pearl embossing powder.

This isn't quite what I had in mind when I started crafting this card but I think it turned out rather well regardless.  I'm not all that happy with the StazOn ink but I'm not certain if its the ink or the polymer stamp.  I tried to improve the Fanfare image but applying the Sakura pen and it was great on the leaves and dots and I probably should have also added it to the flourishes as it likely would have really helped improve the final image.  Still, a lovely wedding card.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Thank You Butterfly

Hello everyone,

I've got another wonderful butterfly on today's card.

The image is Stampin' Up Watercolor Wings stamped in StazOn Metallic Gold and Midnight Blue, Versafine Onyx Black, and Stampin' Up Blackberry Bliss on Recollections Vanilla and highlighted with Wink of Stella Clear 999.  The image was die cut with Sizzix Bold Butterfly Framelits.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up Another Thank You stamped in Midnight Muse on Recollections Vanilla and layered on Momenta textured cardstock.  The embellishments are EK Success Swarovski Elements.

I had to buy this stamp set when I saw this awesome sentiment.  Big, bold and beautiful!  I thought it worked particularly well with this amazing butterfly.  I made a couple of attempts and still didn't get a really great impression.  I'll have to give one of the other blocks a try to see if that makes a difference.  I thought about adding some Wink of Stella but decided not to push my luck!

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Birthday Butterfly

Hello everyone,

Today is my sister's birthday and I'm really happy with her card.

The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on Stampin' Up Blackberry Bliss.  The butterfly is Stampin' Up Watercolour Wings stamped in Versafine Onyx Black and Tsukineko Starlite Black and Pearlescent Crimson on Recollections Vanilla and clear heat embossed.  The butterfly was die cut with Sizzix Bold Butterfly Framelits.  The sentiment is Penny Black Special Time stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on Recollections Vanilla and layered on more Blackberry Bliss.  The embellishments are Mark Richards 3mm Gold Metals.

I wasn't in any rush when I was crafting this card so I decided to do some playing with this butterfly stamp.  I love the watercolour style and that it's a multi-step stamp is a bonus.  It does take some time though to work out colours and shading.  I will admit though, most everything I tried worked pretty well.  You'll be seeing more butterflies over the next while because I stamped quite a few.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Grunged Luck

Hello everyone,

Today's card is for a friend who is moving to Houston to be with his wife after being apart for over a year.  Long distance relationships suck and I'm so happy my friend will be reunited with his wife but I will miss him none-the-less.

The printed paper is BasicGrey Sublime layered on Stampin' Up Not Quite Navy.  The images are Stampin' Up Gorgeous Grunge stamped in Not Quite Navy, More Mustard and Pear Pizzazz on Very Vanilla.  The hexagons are Stampin' Up Six-Sided Sampler stamped in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla.  The sentiment is Gina K Pleasant Plurals stamped in Early Espresso.  The embellishments are Multicrafts.

I'm really happy with this card.  The more I play with these hexagons, the more I like them.  I like them vertical or horizontal.  I think they're great bunched together like this but they are also a great border.  I hadn't originally intended to use any embellishments but when I saw the container of these studs I thought they'd work great in the hexagons and they also look great with the dots on the printed paper.  It all tied together so nicely!

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Perfectly Purple Blossoms

Hello everyone,

Today is the last of the cards I crafted for my Mom's friend.

The printed papers are Kaisercraft Violet Crush.  The image is Rubbernecker Cherry Blossom stamped in Tombow 623, 636 and N57 on Stampin' Up Whisper White.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up Lacy and Lovely stamped in Elegant Eggplant.  The ribbon is Multicrafts.  The embellishments are Keepsakes Memories.

I wanted to do something a little different for this card.  When I spotted this stamp in my stash I knew I wanted to use it.  I haven't used it in ages.  I decided to go purple because this paper was too pretty not to use and I thought it went well with the flowers.  I know cherry blossoms should be pink but I took artistic license.  In all this traditional prettiness, I decided to place the sentiment on the vertical to throw the overall card into a tizzy.  It worked!

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Pearls and Owls

Hello everyone,

I wanted today's card, for my mother's friend, to be fun!

The printed paper is Joy Crafts Owl's World layered on Stampin' Up Very Vanilla and Always Artichoke.  The sentiment is Rubbernecker stamped in Blush Blossom on Very Vanilla and layered on Blush Blossom and Always Artichoke.  The ribbon is American Crafts.  The embellishments are Close To My Heart Mocha Opaques and Avocado Liquid Pearls.

I really love this pad of owl paper.  They are all so darn cute.  As I've written before I'm not a big fan of Blush Blossom however it works perfectly with this sheet of paper.  I didn't have enough mini pearls to liven up the flowers so I pulled out the Liquid Pearls and they did the job.  I used a different colour because I couldn't match the pearls but I like how the darker colours pop!

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Blooms And Butterflies

Hello everyone,

After yesterday's super cheerful starburst, I went for a cooler, much more monochromatic card today.

The printed paper is from the Dollar Store and is layered on Stampin' Up Lost Lagoon.  The images are Stampin' Up Garden In Bloom stamped in Lost Lagoon, Baja Breeze, Pool Party, and Close To My Heart Slate and Juniper on Whisper White, and layered on more Whisper White.  The images are highlighted with Diamond Stickles.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up Four You stamped in Onyx Black.
I really wanted to craft a wide variety of cards so today's creation is a completely different look and feel from yesterday's.  I love these blue/greens colours, especially how they pop with the black and white.  This is a new Stampin' Up set that I've only just begun playing with.  It's a two-step stamp in the latest watercolour style that I absolutely love!  The butterfly wings are actually layered.  I don't know if that was what was intended but I really thought it made the butterflies even more lovely.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Sunny Starburst

Hello everyone,

I'm still posting card from the series I crafted for a friend of my mother's.

The printed papers are of unknown origin layered on Stampin' Up Lovely Lilac.  The image is Stampin' Up Darling Dots stamped in Close To My Heart Sunset on Whisper White and highlighted with Star Dust Stickles.

My mother is a wonderful quilter so it seemed quite obvious to me to craft a starburst card.  This type of card is perfect for using up scraps.  I chose colours that were really bright and cheerful because my mother would really like it.  I chose not to use a sentiment because these are just everyday note cards, not for any particular occasion.  It actually took me a couple of attempts to get the bursts somewhat even as my card bases were not the right size.  I eventually decided to improvise, so I have a few extra starburst bases that I will use up when I'm finished with this series.  They're all lovely.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Garden Thoughts

Hello everyone,

Today I'm posting a card that is part of a series of note cards I crafted for a friend of my mother's.  I posted the Christmas card I crafted for this set a couple of weeks back.

The printed paper is Momenta Amylee Weeks layered on Stampin' Up Basic Black.  The image is Inkadinkado Garden Greetings stamped in Pear Pizzazz on Recollections White, highlighted with Wink of Stella Clear 999, and layered on more Basic Black.  The ribbon is Dashes, Dots & Checks.

I decided with this series to try to use some images that I've had for even but don't use that often.  In this particular case, this is a set which I picked up years ago and really have not played with it all that much.  I picked it for this paper because I felt the line drawing of the flower and butterfly spoke really well with the line drawings in the paper.  It also is a great image for highlighting with my Wink of Stella pen.  I love the black, white and green colour combination.  It is bright and fresh, and I've used many, many times.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Anniversary Wishes

Hello everyone,

My mother asked me to craft this very special wedding anniversary card for my grandparents who will be celebrating their 72nd wedding anniversary later this month.

The printed paper is K&Company Wedding Blue layered on a shimmery blue of unknown origin.  The images are Stampin' Up Creative Elements stamped in Baja Breeze on Recollections Vanilla and layered on shimmery blue and Recollections Vanilla.  The images are highlighted with Diamond Stickles.  The sentiment is Hero Arts Everyday Sayings stamped in Close To My Heart Twilight on Recollections Vanilla and layered on more shimmery blue.

I wanted to craft a very, very special anniversary card for my grandparents (they're actually second cousins but my siblings and I respectfully have always referred to them as our grandparents).  After doing some research I found that there is no particular theme for a 72nd wedding anniversary so I decided to use some favourite elements.  Blue is a favourite colour and the shimmery paper just makes me happy.  I love using this particular image for weddings and anniversary because it's light and offers great opportunities for highlight.  In this particular case it also speaks very well to the printed paper.  Overall I'm pleased with this card and I think it will acknowledge 72 years married very appropriately.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.
