A Week of Thanks - Sunday

Hello everyone,

Today's post is the last of the 'thank you' cards in this series.

The card bases are Stampin' Up Pumpkin Pie and Crushed Curry.  The sentiment is Inkadinkado Thanks Words stamped in Pumpkin Pie and Crushed Curry on Whisper White and layered on banners of Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie and Crushed Curry.  The embellishments are Dress It Up! Sangria Flats.

I couldn't resist crafting a pair of these cards in these warms colours.  I think I've had the Pumpkin Pie colour since I started crafting cards.  I was thrilled to find these lovely flower embellishments in my stash.  They're not a perfect colour match but they don't clash terribly either.

I hope you enjoy these cards and come back to SPI again soon.

Ice Cream Wishes

Hello everyone,

Today's post is a really fun birthday card!

The card base is The Paper Studio.  The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on a yellow Bazzill.  The sentiment is Stampendous Graceful Birthday stamped in Altenew Coral Berry on Recollections White and layered on more yellow Bazzill.  The embellishment is Dress It Up.

I couldn't resist this fun paper.  These ice cream cone paper makes for a great fun birthday card!  I was thrilled to find an embellishment is just the right ice cream cone shape.  I wasn't surprised to find the right colour pink ink.  I really shouldn't have that many shades of pink ink!

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Paw Patrol Birthday

Hello everyone,

Today's post is a couple of birthday cards crafted for a sweet grandson/great grandson who is celebrating his first birthday.

The card base is Stampin' Up Night of Navy.  The image is a royalty free clip art layered on Close To My Heart Orange and Willow.  The sentiment is Microsoft Word font also layered on Orange and Willow.  The embellishments are Dress It Up.

The card base is Stampin' Up Pacific Point.  The image is royalty free clip art layered on Close To My Heart Willow.  The sentiment is Microsoft Word font added to the image before it was printed.  The embellishments are Dress It Up.

I have to say that after crafting the recent sympathy card series, these two Paw Patrol birthday cards were a lot of fun to make.  I didn't have any Paw Patrol stamps, paper or stickers so I researched royalty free clip art online, choosing a variety and printed them.  I didn't think to save the URL but I just did a simple Google search of images.  I wasn't sure what I'd use for embellishments or even if I would use any, but as I was going through my stash of embellishments I found these birthday elements that proved perfect!

I hope you enjoy these cards and come back to SPI again soon.

A Simple Ornament

Hello everyone,

I'm posting another Christmas card using pieces that I found in my stash of leftover bits and pieces.

The image is a Memory Box Drop Ornament die cut with a burnished gold of unknown origin.  The ornament overlay is Memory Box La Rue Ornament die cut from a shimmery blue also of unknown origin.  The ornament is layered on more blue and gold.  The sentiment is Technique Tuesday Jingle All The Way stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on Recollections White.  The embellishment is Dress It Up Pearl Snowflake.

I can't recall why I didn't use this ornament when I first made it.  I must have been 'playing'.  I really like the size of this ornament and the flourished overlay is just spectacular.  Given it's large scale you don't need to go 'over-the-top' with extras.  I especially like this small sentiment added as a tag.  I think the simple pearl snowflake is what really finishes off the card, just like it's supposed to.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Very Vintage Italian

Hello everyone,

Today's Christmas card is the last one using the Italian paper that I found in my stash.

The printed paper is Grafiche Tassotti layered on a vanilla of unknown origin and Bazzill navy.  The sentiment is Rubbernecker stamped in Stampin' Up Midnight Muse on more vanilla of unknown origin.  The embellishment is Dress It Up.

This is another very beautiful piece of Christmas paper.  Unfortunately, it's not a great scale for cards, especially smaller card bases.  I had to be very careful cutting for this layout otherwise I would have cut off some of the images.  I know I will lose a lot of this sheet because of the images but they're so lovely, I'll live with it.  I left the rest of the card very simple, again, not wanting to cover up any more of the printed images than necessary.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Take The Train

Hello everyone,

The next few cards were crafted for a card making party that I donate to a charity auction.

The printed paper is Momenta Textured Cardstock layered on Recollections White and Black.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up Delightful Dozen stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on Recollections White and layered on Recollections Black.  The embellishment is Dress It Up Train Embellishments.

I've donated this card making party to our workplace charity for the past few years and it's always been a lot of fun.  The auction winners and a few friends get together to make up cards that I've designed especially for them.  This years it's a mix of birthday and Christmas cards.

One of the winners has two young boys who like trains and dinosaurs.  Good thing I've got appropriate embellishments.  Given the successful bidders have little to no card making experience, I keep the cards extremely straightforward with a lot of flexibility.  I really want to make sure that the ladies go home pleased with their cards.  This sample is yellow but as the train embellishments I had on hand don't come in multiple of the same colours so I've prepped to provide a choice of either green or blue,

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Another For The Boys

Hello everyone,

I so enjoyed crafting yesterday's boy card that I decided to use another sheet of paper from the Prima Forever Young pad.

The printed paper is Prima Forever Young layered on Bazzill Bitter Chocolate and Close To My Heart Crystal Blue.  The sentiment is Avery Elle Brushed stamped in Close To My Heart Sunset on a piece of vanilla of unknown origin and layered on more Crystal Blue.  The middle layer was stamped with an alphabet/number stamp set of unknown origin with Stampin' Up Close To Cocoa, Creamy Caramel,  More Mustard and Really Rust, and Close To My Heart Ruby and Sunset on a vanilla of unknown origin and layered on more Bitter Chocolate.  The ribbon is Multicrafts.  The embellishment is a button of unknown origin, likely Dress It Up.

I bought this paper a while ago to craft cards for a girlfriend who has three boys.  With two in school and one going into daycare next spring, she's going to need appropriate boy cards and I'm thinking ahead.  I also really like that these papers are great for young or old with many being quite gender neutral.  The versatility obviously appealed!

I mimicked the background using an alphabet/number set that I've no idea how it ended up in my stash.  I hesitated over the ribbon as it's not something I'd normally add to a boy card but it's not too bad in the whole scheme of things. The helicopter embellishment remains a little off theme-wise but I didn't want to replicate another punch art animal so I settled.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

For A Little Guy

Hello everyone,

I found two pieces of striped pieces of paper in the box of donations.  The primary colours inspired me to craft a couple of kids cards.  I thought it would be fun to craft nearly identical boy and girl cards.

The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on a textured Bazzill blue.  The vertical stripe is Stampin' Up Gorgeous Grunge stamped in Pacific Point on Very Vanilla and layered on more Bazzill blue.  The sentiment is Gina Marie All Seasons stamped in Versafine Onyx Black.  The embellishment is Dress It Up.

These are some bold and beautiful diagonal stripes!  I love how the sentiment is like the airplane exhaust.  I had second thoughts about placing the sentiment on the vertical because if the card is turned on the horizontal the plane looks like its crashing - oops!  I chose this particular grunge stamp because it struck me somewhat like runway markings.  I'm very happy with the final result.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Christmas Puppy

Hello everyone,

I just had to design a dog Christmas card for my beginners.

The printed paper is Recollections Chalk Holiday layered on Recollections Red and Green.  The sentiment is Penny Black Christmas Wishes stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on Recollections White and layered on Recollections Red.  The embellishments are Recollections and Dress It Up.

This is one of my favourite photos of my dog!  He looks more worried than jolly but I interrupted his backyard scan for squirrels and I don't think I impressed him all that much.  This is actually a really simple card - a photo, a sentiment and some great embellishments.  I kept the printed background paper really low key because I didn't want to overwhelm the photo.  I played with a couple of different patterned papers but I liked this one the best and I think its because overall, it's pretty simple.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Dinos, Dinos, Dinos

Hello everyone,

I couldn't craft some kid cards without doing something typically boy!

The printed paper is Little Yellow Bicycle Dinos All Over layered on Recollections White and a blue of unknown origin.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up Wacky Wishes stamped in Wild Wasabi on Recollections White and layered on more blue.  The embellishment is Dress It Up.

I've used this dinosaur paper before and was equally thrilled with the results.  These dinosaurs are too darn cute!  I love the variety of colour in this paper.  It really does give plenty of options for layering.  The embellishment is actually a button but I just trim off the anchors from the underside so it will lie flat on the card.  I'll have to find more because this was my last dinosaur.  I do have a couple of dinosaur stickers but they clash terribly with the paper.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Quilted Maple Leaf

Hello everyone,

Today I'm posting a card that I crafted for my grandmother who isn't feeling well at the moment.

The printed paper is Kaisercraft Peachy Keen.  The solid papers are Stampin' Up More Mustard, Really Rust, Early Espresso and Not Quite Navy.  The focal image is layered on Ranger Alcohol inked glossy paper.  The sentiment is Creative Vision Simply Said stamped in Early Espresso on Recollections Vanilla and highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.  The embellishment is Dress It Up State Fair Threads.

I first saw this quilted leaf on Pinterest and thought it would be just perfect for my Grandma.  It was a bit of a challenge to find the right background for this beautiful leaf but one I realized I could make my own with alcohol ink, that problem was solved.  I played with a number of fall embellishments, in a number of colours, but finally settled on a button because it seemed to suit the quilt best.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Boyishly Berserk

Hello everyone,

The next few posts are the remainder of my girlfriend's commissioned cards for her daycare.  I wanted to do some more fun boy cards.

The printed paper is My Mind's Eye Boy Crazy Imagine layered on Stampin' Up Baja Breeze.  The sentiment is Close To My Heart For Every Occasion stamped in Soft Suede on Very Vanilla and layered on Crushed Curry.  The embellishment is Dress It Up.

This is super fun paper!  It makes for some perfect boy cards.  I scoured my embellishments for a less perfect embellishment but didn't have anything suitable.  I thought this train went rather well with the other transportation modes in the paper.  It was a 'best of what I've got' situation.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Simply Sweet

Hello everyone,

Now that my Christmas In July series is posted, it's time to get back to posting the thank you cards my girlfriend commission for her daycare in June.

The printed papers are DCWV Nana's Kids with the focal piece layered on Stampin' Up Creamy Caramel.  The sentiment is Hero Arts Thank You Messages stamped in Pear Pizzazz on Very Vanilla.  The embellishment is Multicrafts Dress It Up.

I couldn't resist deconstructing this little horse button!  It was too cute not to use on this card. With this wonderful paper, it was pretty easy and inspiring to craft some simple yet beautiful cards.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Post Card Christmas

Hello everyone,

At the end of last year, I went a little wild acquiring vintage Christmas paper.  Today's post is another great card crafted from my finds.

The printed paper is Echo Park Reflections Christmas.  The sentiment is Bonnidee Xmas Wording 3 stamped in Stampin' Up Early Espresso on Recollections Vanilla and layered on more Vanilla.  The embellishment is Dress It Up Mini Cookie Cutters.

This was what I'd intended when I first started out with this card but it turned out even better.  This is another really busy background paper that really doesn't need much by way of extras.  I did decide to add this tiny embellishment that I found on Saturday at Multicrafts.  I think it works perfectly on this card.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

For Grandma

Hello everyone,

I'm still working on this latest 'Loved Ones' stamp set series.  It's a lot of fun so far.

The printed papers are BoBunny Olivia Ambrosia, TaDa Flora and Fauna, and K&Company Julianne.  These papers are layered on Stampin' Up Bravo Burgundy, Old Olive and Early Espresso.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up Loved Ones stamped in Bravo Burgundy.  The embellishment is Dress It Up Sangria Flats.  The entire card is highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.

I originally crafted this quilted flower for a thank you card a couple of weeks ago.  I wasn't crazy about the flower because it's a little busy with so much pattern.  That said, I couldn't undo it so I just set it aside until I was further inspired.  This seemed the right card on which to use it.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Fantastic Fathers I

Hello everyone,

The card list is growing shorter.  I'm on to Father's Day cards and this is the first of four I've got on my list.

The printed paper is Scrapbook Walls Dark Tie Circles layered on Close To My Heart Garden Green and the flip side of the Dark Tie Circles paper.  The sentiment is Kaisercraft Occasions stamped in Stampin' Up Marina Mist on Very Vanilla.  The embellishments are Dress It Up Sports - Golf and Hero Arts Pewter Metallic Décor.

This particular card is crafted for my darling husband, an avid golfer.  I picked up these particular embellishments a long, long time ago but never got around to using them.  I actually found them in the back of my embellishments drawer.  Does this mean my stash is too big?

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Paisley Petals 3 & 4

Hello everyone,

Today I'm posting cards three and four in this latest Paisley Petals one sheet wonder series.

The printed paper is Stampin' Up Paisley Petals layered on Bravo Burgundy. The image, also Stampin' Up Paisley Petals is stamped in Bravo Burgundy, clear heat embossed, and painted with LuminArte Olive Vine, Sage, Black Orchid, Mango Mamba, Bolivean Blue and Ginger Peach Twinkling H2Os. The sentiment is Gina K Framed Greetings.

The printed paper is Stampin' Up Paisley Petals, layered on Bravo Burgundy. The sentiment, Waltzingmouse Say It With Style, is stamped in Bravo Burgundy on Whisper White and layered on Bravo Burgundy The embellishments are Dress It Up Napa Valley and St. Croix flats.

I have the Paisley Petals stamp and couldn't not use it with this paper on card three. I also couldn't not pull out the Twinkling H2Os. I'm so happy with the results. I love the embellishments on card four. I found them on a recent trip to Montreal and am so pleased with them although they're a bit of a pain to glue. I'll live with it to get these results.

I hope you enjoy these cards and come back to SPI again soon.

Country Floral 10

Hello everyone,

Today's post is card ten in my latest one sheet wonder series.

The printed paper is Jillibean Soup Chilled Strawberry Soup Vanilla Soy Milk. The sentiment is Stampendous. The embellishments are Dress It Up Sangria Flats.

For a card with one of those awkward triangles that I often loathe, I love this card. The sentiment works really well and though the embellishments were not intended to go together, the pairing couldn't work any better. This is just one of those creations that makes me so happy!

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Thank So Much

Hello everyone,

One of the Christmas fundraisers at my husband's work this year was a raffle for a great pair of Ottawa Senators (National Hockey League) tickets. My husband is not a huge hockey fan but I just love the game. He didn't buy the tickets under duress but he did voice an opinion. Wouldn't you know it, he won the tickets. It was an excellent hockey game and I had a really, really great time. Thank you cards are in order for the managers who donated the tickets in the first place.

The printed papers are BasicGrey Pyrus layered on Stampin' Up More Mustard. The sentiment is Hero Arts Thank You Messages stamped in Early Espresso on Whisper White. The embellishments are Dress It Up Pressed Leaves.

I think this is a great thank you card. It is clean and simple as I just want to express a simple thank you, nothing over the top. I'm confident this works exactly as I had in mind.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.
