More Beautiful Butterflies

Hello everyone,

I've got butterflies on the brain so this card highlights butterflies. I used four challenges as inspiration - last week's Flutter By Wednesday was an open challenge as long as it had an angel, butterfly or fairy; Wednesday's CAS-tastic challenge was to 'bling it up'; Saturday's Stamping 411 provided a really nice sketch; and today's Creative Card Crew challenge was looking for cute and girly. I just couldn't resist these challenges once I got going on these butterflies.

The background layers are Stampin' Up Pretty In Pink and BasicGrey Olivia. The butterflies are Sizzix Butterfly #12 cut from glossy paper which was Ranger Alcohol Ink smooshed and DecoArt Glamour Dusted. The embellishments are Kaiser Scrapbook Rhinestones. The sentiment is Gina K Tag, You're It.

I love this card. I got a Paper Garden Projects order today with the rhinestones and new BasicGrey and it was just perfect for these challenges. This is a wonderful girly and cute card and I can't wait for someone to received it.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Clean & Simple Flutter By

Hello everyone,

Right off the top I just have to say that yesterday's 12-hour crop was absolutely spectacular. I'd never done anything like it before and it was awesome! I can't wait to crop again. I didn't get as many cards done as I would have liked but the ones I did, I'm pretty happy with. I was pretty exhausted last night by the time I got home.

I'm going to post a few of my favourite cards today to make up for not posting the last couple of days. I had a list of interesting challenges with me yesterday so I kind of had them in the back of my mind when I was creating. Wednesday's Flutter By Challenge was to make a clean and simple card and I think one really fits the bill.

The card base is from Recollections. The light pink strip is Quickutz Dreamscape. The butterflies are all Ranger alcohol inked, DecoArt Glamour Dusted and cut with Sizzix Bigz Beautiful Butterflies and Embosslits Beautiful Wings. The sentiment is Hero Arts Thoughtful Messages.

I love this card. The butterflies are just incredible. All that glitter...

Please enjoy and come back to SPI again soon.

Asian Butterflies

Hello everyone,

So, I am not quite finished with the watercolour technique after all. Today's card was inspired by today's Pals Paper Arts sketch and Flutter By Wednesday's open challenge.

The background paper and the vertical strip is DCWV Far East stack. The image is Impression Obsession Butterfly. The stamp was coloured with Stampin' Up watercolour crayons, spritzed with water and stamped on watercolour paper. The ribbon is Michael's Special Value.

I just love this card! Asian motifs are not necessarily my style but there was something so very appealing about this paper. I'm very excited to explore the possibilities. The butterfly stamp was just irresistible and it works so beautifully with the watercolour technique.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Five Challenge Card

Hello everyone,

I didn't plan to one-up yesterday's four challenge card, it just happened that I came across five challenges today that fit together beautifully on one card. Today's 365 Cards wanted to see metal. The ABC challenge was looking for layers. Crafty Creations called for black and white with a splash of color. Flutter By Wednesdays, in addition to angels, fairies or butterflies, wanted us to use something new. The Diva Coffee Break Design Team provided the overall sketch.

I started with a Halcraft card base on which I layered Stampin' Up Basic Black and Shimmery White. The white layer was textured with the Spellbinder Impressabilities Butterfly plate. I used a new piece of paper, gcd Studios Tinted Flowers designer paper. The metal flower brads are from Multicrafts. The sentiment is Stampin' Up Short & Sweet.

I really love this card. Considering how many challenges have been used on this one card, it should be busy, but it isn't. I did add a sentiment to the sketch because I felt it was needed. I also used dimensionals on everything and it certainly provided great depth. Maybe that's why it appeals to me so much. I figure this card will easily pass for a Valentine even with nary a heart in sight.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Flutter By Birthday

Hello everyone,

Today's card is a new challenge blog - Flutter By Wednesday - which has a sketch from Mercy Kerin. Mercy hosts the Lord Have Mercy blog which offers a sketch challenge every Tuesday. I just happened to use Mercy's sketch for yesterday's card.

Many of you will recognize my favourite Stampin, Up Cottage Wall paper. I also used a scrap of Rich Razzleberry and Whisper White. The darker green pieces are DCWV Textured Brights Cardstock Stack. I highlighted the dots on the light green piece with diamond Stickles. The sentiment is Penny Black's Happy, Happy. The silver flower is from Multicrafts which I layered with some Sizzix die-cut flowers.

I don't think I've made one card with the Cottage Wall paper that I did not like and this one is no exception.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.
