Scene of Sympathy

Hello everyone,

I thought I would try a little different sympathy card.  It's one I've been thinking about for a while.

The images are Stampin' Up Scene In A Garden and Branch Out stamped on Recollections Vanilla.  The image was stamped and coloured in Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz, Certainly Celery, Wild Wasabi, Pool Party, Baja Breeze, Marina Mist, Faber-Castell markers, and Rebhan watercolour paints.  The butterflies were highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.  The scene is layered on a piece of brown of unknown origin and a green from Generations Traditional Stackers.  The sentiment is Gina K Garden Silhouettes stamped in Early Espresso.

I don't often craft cards with scenes as I'm terrible at colouring.  This is the second attempt.  I'm not all that confident in the scale but I really wanted to see if it could work.  It's not bad.  I used a variety of colouring mediums because I find I'm so much better with inks and watercolour paints than with markers.  I know practice would resolve the marker issues but try as I might, I'm never happy with the results.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Father's Day Green

Hello everyone,

The next few cards are for the special fathers in our family.  Today's is for my father-in-law.

The printed paper is Generations Primary Color Collection layered on Recollections.  The images are Karen Foster Men's Tee time cardstock stickers.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up All Holidays stamped in Glorious Green on Whisper White.

These particular stickers are a real challenge.  I don't know what I was thinking when I bought them.  The scale is rather large for cards and the bright green and yellow are tough to match.  I think this card worked out pretty well.  Not a favourite card by any means but it will work.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Dots And Dashes Day

Hello everyone,

This was a really fun card to craft though the results are not what I had hoped.

The printed paper is BoBunny Hip Hip Hooray Primary Stripe layered on Generations Pretty Simple Stackers and Recollections.  The image is TPC Studio Blips & Beeps Studded Robots affixed to Stampin' Up Whisper White and layered on more Recollections.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up All Holidays stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on Whisper White.  The embellishments are My Mind's Eye Collectible Remarkable "Handsome" Enamel Dots.

I'm not as fussy on this particular sticker.  It is super cute but you can see the clear lines of adhesive between the metal pieces.  If I had attached it to a darker background, those lines would stick out like a sore thumb.  This is one of the most difficult stamps I've used in a long time.  It took me at least a dozen tries to get it so it was smooshed or crooked.  I see why I don't use it all that often.  This is still a really cute card but I wouldn't give this to a really young boy, just in case the little bits are dislodged.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Another Baby Girl

Hello everyone,

I had planned to craft two cards today but the World Cup kind of interrupted those plans. I'll have another baby boy card for tomorrow. My plan for this card was to use today's Sweet Sunday Sketch but to stay away from pale colour and go more vibrant. I'm also applying this card to today's Paper Sundaes challenge which was to use multiple layers.

The background paper is Generations Traditional Stackers textured with Sizzix Butterfly Dance. The middle layer is DCWV Textured Brights. The top layer is Pink Paislee Bullseye. Martha Stewart's Optic Drop border punch was used on the middle and top layers. The sentiment is Stampin' Up Lovely Labels mounted on a scrap of Very Vanilla. The ribbon is Sheer Creations from Michael's.

I love this baby girl card. It is not really traditional but still obviously girly. The ribbon was more spontaneous as I didn't have a ribbon that worked perfectly off the bat. That said, I like the rainbow and the colours do work with the dots.

I'll have another baby boy card tomorrow so I hope you come back to SPI again tomorrow.

Sunshiny Yellow

Hello everyone,

Today's card is so far outside my comfort zone I barely recognize it as my own. It is based upon two challenges, today's No Time To Stamp? which asked for punched borders and Play Date Cafe which was looking for bright yellow, pale yellow and white.

The card base is from Recollections. The patterned paper is Generations Stackers. The borders were punched with a Martha Stewart border punch but I'm not sure which one. They were punched from scrap pieces of yellow paper of an unknown source. The sentiment is Stampin' Up Short and Sweet.

I'm not sure if I like this card or not. It is bright but overall, quite simple. Yellow is not a colour I use all that often but I wanted to challenge myself. This is not a horrible card but probably not my best either. I like the overall sketch and I'd do it again but it's the yellow that is throwing me off.

I do hope, none-the-less, that you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.
