Watercolour Congratulations

Hello everyone,

Today's card uses more of that watercolour technique that I've been stuck on for the last couple of days. I just can't help it! I used today's i{heart}2stamp Sketch For You To Try (SFYTT) as inspiration. I also picked up some new papers that, of course, I just couldn't resist.

The card base is Stampin' Up Confetti White. The background paper is Autumn Leaves Emily. The focal image is Stampin' Up Medallion. The sentiment is Stampin' Up Well Scripted.

I just love this card. I'd been trying to come up with a way to use the medallion stamp as a background and I think this is a good start. I need to be better at centering it though. The watercolour technique worked really well with this stamp and I'll try it again.

Spotted & Dotted

Hello everyone,

Today's card was commissioned by a male colleague who needs a baby card. I used the One Stop Craft Challenge, to use spots and dots and the i{heart}2stamp, Sketch For You To Try as inspiration.


All the paper on this card is Stampin' Up Delicate Dots, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue and Whisper White. Cuttlebug Spots & Dots and Sizzix Small Dots were used to provide texture. The focal image is Gina K Lovely Labels and Stampin' Up So Many Scallops. The brad is from the dollar store and was re-invented with scrap bits of Stampin' Up paper and Star Dust Stickles. The ribbon is Stampin' Up and Textured Trios.

I think the only thing on this card that doesn't have a spot or dot is the scrap of Bashful Blue on the brad. I really like making baby cards. I don't do them all that often but I sure like how they turn out. Of course, the Delicate Dots paper really helps because it lends so well to gender neutral baby cards. I think this is a great card for my male colleague to give as it's certainly not frou frou.

You're Fabulous!

Hello everyone,

I know I don't usually post two cards in a night but I just had to do a second card today. Jen del Muro's i{heart}2stamp blog has posted a Sketch For You To Try (SFYTT) challenge each Saturday in February and is offereing an absolutely amazing prize pack. A design position for the month of March is also up for grabs. I've managed to follow each Saturday's sketch except for past Saturday's. The deadline is tomorrow, so there is a second card tonight.

The paper is all Close To My Heart - You Rock, Pansy Purple and Goldrush. The ribbon is Michael's Special Value. The sentiment is Verve Uplifting Phrases.

I just love, love, love this paper! The colours are beautiful and the patterns are awesome. I just might have to get a second pack. I love the simplicity of this sketch. I sort of baulked when I first started putting it together but once I had everything cut, it came together beautifully. I know this paper is inspiring adolescent cards and this one fits that bill.

Simple Sympathy

Hello everyone,

I will apologize in advance for yet another sympathy card but truly, I sell at least one a week and have a hard time keeping them in stock. I used this week's i{heart}2stamp sketch challenge. It will go towards my entry for the incredible blog candy Jen del Muro is giving away.

The card base is from Recollections. The remaining paper is Stampin' Up Whisper White, Basic Black and Elegant Eggplant. The Elegant Eggplant strip was textured with Sizzix Flourish. The image is Verve Filigree Fantasy. The sentiment is Stampin' Up Warmest Regards.

I'm very pleased with this sympathy card. I think the colour combination is very classic and the sketch is simple enough to make this a very suitable card without being dreary and heavy.

I also want to admit that I my very first Verve stamps just arrived in the mail today and I just had to use them. I fell in love with the Thankful Hearts set through Jackie Pedro's The Scalloped Edge blog. When I went to the Verve site, I had to practise some serious restraint as there were so many sets that really appealed to me. I am not disappointed and can't wait to get creative.
