Holiday Swirls

Hello everyone,

Today's card is part of my Christmas stash.  There will be plenty over the next number of weeks.

The printed paper is K & Company Tim Coffey Christmas Designer Paper layered on Bazzill Glazed Christmas.  The red layer, also Bazzill Glazed Christmas has been textured with Couture Creations Very Xmas Light embossing folder.  The sentiment is Penny Black Winter Wonders stamped in Stampin' Up Wild Wasabi on Very Vanilla, layered on Bazzill Glazed Christmas and highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen. The ribbon is Wrights.  The embellishments are Mark Richards gold metals.

This is one of those amazing pieces of paper that isn't well scaled for a card unless it is carefully trimmed.  I love how it's only part of a tree yet still distinctly a Christmas tree.  I just love everything about this card.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Traditional Christmas

Hello everyone,

Today's 'Christmas in July' card is sweet, simple and lovely.

The paper is K&Company SW Glad Tidings and Stampin' Up Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla and Always Artichoke. The Cherry Cobbler was textured with Sizzix Holly & Berries. The sentiment is Penny Black Christmas Flourish. The ribbon is Wrights Matte Gold. The embellishments are Martha Stewart White Dimensional mini pearls.

I love this card. It really is clean and simple but sure doesn't look it thanks to the beautiful Glad Tidings paper. I just loved that little bird and wanted to make sure it stayed intact for this card. I didn't intend to use so many pearls but the ribbon just needed a little extra. I'm sure glad I didn't stop.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

O Holy Night

Hello everyone,

Sometimes, when a card just isn't working, the best thing to do is put it aside. Today's card is such a card. I just couldn't get it to work last night. I had all kinds of bits and pieces but it just wasn't coming together. That certainly changed today thanks in part to Just Add Ink which provided the sketch, today's Winter Wonderland was looking for a Christmas Carol card, and yesterday's Cute Card Thursday asked for a project with vellum.

The background paper is BoBunny Snowy Serenade Concerto. The image, stamped on vellum, is Stampin' Up Holy Triptych which is heat embossed with Close To My Heart gold embossing powder. The image is layered on a piece of Stampin' Up Very Vanilla. The sentiment is Cornish Heritage Farms Christmas Expressions also stamped on Very Vanilla, heat embossed in gold and layered on a piece of gold paper of unknown origin. The ribbon is Wrights Matte Gold. The embellishments are also of unknown origin.

I'm so glad I didn't force this card last night. It turned out so beautifully and is absolutely what I pictured in my mind. I've coveted this stamp set from the moment my Stampin' Up demonstrator first showed it to me. I'm glad I finally picked it up. I love the effect of heat embossing on vellum as it adds a certain depth to the card that you just don't get when stamping directly on paper.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Christmas Stripes

Hello everyone,

There have been so many great sketches over the past few days it's been hard to stay focused. I just had to give Mercy's Tuesday Sketch a try this week. I also decided to pair it with Sunday's Pile It On challenge which was to use four or more embossing folders.

The card base is from Strathmore. The background paper is Sandylion Poinsettia Swirl. The vertical stripes are Close To My Heart Vineyard Berry textured with four of Cuttlebug's Winter Wonderland embossing folders and Cuttlebug's Holly embossing folder. The sentiment is Annabelle Holly Branch stamped on a scrap of Stampin' Up Whisper White and layered on a scrap of Handsome Hunter. The ribbon is Wrights Matte Gold. The embellishments are from Multicrafts.

This card is as good as I'd pictured in my mind. I loved the sketch when I first saw and I loved it even more when I had the card made. I thought the different Cuttlebug would be just strange but I think doing it in all the same paper made it work.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.
