Vertical Wishes

Hello everyone,

Today's birthday card post is the vertical of yesterday's card.

The printed paper is Heidi Grace Mini Flower Buds layered on a blue and a yellow of unknown origin.  The sentiment is Rubbernecker stamped in Altenew Persian Blue on Stampin' Up Very Vanilla.  The butterfly was punched from more blue paper that was covered with Crystal Glitter Ritz Warm Highlight Microfine glitter.  The embellishment is from Recollections.

Today's vertical version of this card uses the same printed paper as yesterday's card.  The layout is also the same but is vertical.  I choose to use different colours for the background because of the variety of colours in the printed paper.  The yellow paper actually has some texture which isn't visible in this photo.  I thought it was inspired to use more the blue for the butterfly.  Even glittered, it brings everything together.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Horizontal Wishes

Hello everyone,

The next two of birthday cards use the same elements but one is horizontal, the other vertical.

The printed paper is Heidi Grace Mini Flower Buds layered on a purple and a green Bazzill.  The sentiment is Creative Vision Simply Said stamped in Altenew Lavender Fields on Stampin' Up Very Vanilla.  The embellishments are Crafts Rhinestone Stickers.

I only had one small strip of this pretty printed paper but it was long enough to craft two cards.  I really like all the different colours in this paper as it makes it much easier to find coordinating colours.  This small strip also spurred me to figure out a bit of a different layout.  I've used this (or a very similar) layout in the past.  When it works, run with it.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Happy Grandparents

Hello everyone,

Today's baby card was commissioned for the grandparents of the baby girl card I posted yesterday.

The printed paper is Heidi Grace Baby Words layered on Close To My Heart Cotton Candy and Bazzill Bitter Chocolate.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up Loved Ones stamped in Cotton Candy on a vanilla of unknown origin, layered on more Bitter Chocolate and highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.  The letter is Creative Expressions, Sentimentally Yours Elegant Alphabet & Numbers.  The ribbon is Crafts.  The embellishments are Kaisercraft Light Pink Rhinestones.

This Heidi Grace printed paper has a beautiful shimmer.  The Bazzill seems much darker in this photo than it is in reality.  I love this 'granddaughter' sentiment however the only issue I have with this set is that the other part of the sentiment is 'my'.  Not very helpful when it's going to (or is from) two people.  I thought using this single letter was inspired and it solve my word issue.  I actually even stamped 'congratulations' on the inside - a rarity!

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Oh So Pretty

Hello everyone,

Today's Christmas card is all soft and pretty.

The printed paper is Heidi Grace Christmas Holly Leaves layered on a shimmery, metallic blue of unknown origin.  The holly branch is die cut from a shimmery, textured white of unknown origin with a Penny Black Holly Berry die.  The sentiment is Sweet & Sassy Poinsettias in Tsukineko Starlite Black Brilliance ink on Recollections Vanilla.  The embellishments are Want 2 Scrap Say It With Pearls.

I absolutely love this card!  The colours, the shimmer, the layout, the design, there is nothing that I don't love!  I picked up this particular die for a couple of reasons.  I liked that it was holly, duh, and I liked that it wonderfully delicate and light, perfect for cards.  Its much more challenging to use a large die on a card.  I don't think it would be too hard to make this in a more traditional red and green.  I picked up this Tsukineko ink from a sale bin and am so glad I did.  It is a great, dark-ish neutral that isn't black.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Special Delivery

Hello everyone,

Back to the grey and yellow scheme.

The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on Recollections yellow.  The chevrons are more Recollections yellow and grey and are layered on Recollections grey.  The sentiment is Heidi Grace Baby stamped in Stampin' Up Basic Grey on Whisper White.  The ribbons are Offray and Sheer Creations.  The embellishment is an Artemio sticker.

I'm much happier with this attempt.  I love the silver buggy sticker!  It works really well with the colour scheme.  The printed polka dot paper is part of a stack that I've had forever but don't remember where it came from.  I chose it because the yellow really had a grey tone and it coordinates very well with the Recollections papers.  I love polka dots for baby cards too.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Oh Baby, Baby

Hello everyone,

One of my colleagues is expecting so I naturally had to craft a card for her baby shower.

The printed paper is Heidi Grace Baby Words layered on Stampin' Up Wisteria Wonder and Wild Wasabi.  The sentiment and images are Inkadinkado Baby Animals stamped on Very Vanilla in Perfect Plum, Wild Wasabi and Colorbox Orange.  The embellishments are Doodlebug Spring Assortment mini pearls.

I had so much fun with this card!  I love the results.  These baby animals are so darn cute!  I don't often cut out images, I'm not really good at it, but it was the only way I could get this card to work the way I envisioned.  To compensate for my poor cutting skills, once I've cut the image, I go over the edge with the same colour ink that I used in the stamp.  It is a great cover up!

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Baby Beauty

Hello everyone,

Today is another commissioned card for a colleague.  She asked for a French baby card.

The printed paper is Heidi Grace Baby Buggies layered on Recollections purple and a pale textured mint green of unknown origin.  The image is Heidi Grace Baby, coloured with Stampin' Up Pastels.  The sentiment is Bonnidee French Wording #1.  Both the image and sentiment are stamped in Nick Bantock Charcoal Grey on Very Vanilla.  The embellishments are Recollections stickers.

Baby cards are just so darn cute to craft.  I love using the pastels to colour even though it isn't my forte.  It's rare that I have a stamp set and matching paper but in this case, the Heidi Grace series is wonderful and I love using it.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Bring On The Babies III

Hello everyone,

I've still got a few more baby cards to post. I warned there was a bit of a boom happening at the office.

The background paper is Heidi Grace Baby Words layered on Recollections. The images are Recollections stickers affixed to DCWV textured card stock and Stampin' Up Shimmery White. The sentiment is Waltzingmouse Say It With Style stamped in StazOn Timber Brown on Shimmery White and layered on Recollections. The embellishments are Keepsakes Memories.

I think this is my favourite of all the baby cards I've been doing. The photo just doesn't do it justice. It just came together beautifully as I added element after element and I love it when that happens.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Bring On The Babies

Hello everyone,

My next few posts are all about baby cards. There seems to be a bit of a boom at the office.

The printed paper is Heidi Grace Baby Buggies layered on textured DCWV and Recollections. The bottom layered was stamped with Inkadinkado Baby Animals in VersaMark and heat embossed with Close To My Heart Silver Pearl. The image is Heidi Grace Baby. The sentiment is Stampin' Up Curvy Verses. Both the image and sentiment are stamped in Nick Bantock Charcoal Grey on Very Vanilla and layered on textured DCWV and Recollections. The embellishments are Keepsakes Memories.

I love these buggies! I especially love the colours in this paper. It is perfect when you don't know if it is going to be a boy or a girl. I don't know the recipient of this card all that well but I'm fairly confident that she'll like this card.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

It's A Girl!

Hello again everyone,

This is the baby girl card which I also crafted today. I wanted to do both a boy and a girl card using the same sketch, Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge, because I thought it would be really neat. I didn't feel I could do a really monochromatic girl card as it would be just a titch too Pepto Bismol so I decided to use Friday's Craftalicious Challenge which was to make a cute card.

The background paper is Heidi Grace Baby Buggies. The horizontal strip is DCWV Textured Brights which, like the baby boy card, was scored with a Scor-Pal. The ribbon is of unknown origin from my stash. The sentiment is Heidi Grace Baby. The brad is Multicrafts Keepsakes.

I love this card. It really is cute! I to write about this brad. I found it quite by accident when I stopped at Multicrafts today. I needed some adhesive and I know I can get a great deal at Multicrafts. The baby carriage actually moves and it is like a small piece of stained glass. It is totally cool. I picked up a couple of packages and can't wait to play with them. I also picked up the background paper because it goes with the one baby stamp set I have. It has a really neat sheen to it and the purple carriages are glossy.

I hope you also like this card and come back to SPI some more baby cards tomorrow.

It's A Boy!

Hello everyone,

Keeping to the baby theme I set for myself this weekend, I put together two cards today. I couldn't resist today's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge so I made a boy card and a girl card (next post). I also was inspired by today's One Stop Craft Challenge to make a monochromatic card for this baby boy card.

The background paper is DCWV Die Cuts With A View Baby Boy. The white strip is Quickutz Quickstripz Manhatten which was scored with a ScorPal. The ribbon is Dashes, Dots and Checks from Michael's. The focal layers are Stampin' Up Bordering Blue and Whisper White. The image is Heidi Grace Baby. The embellishments are Denim Oregon Raindrops.

I just love this card. It is so perfect for a baby boy without being too cutesy.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI the baby girl card.

Clean & Simple Baby

Hello everyone,

My plan last weekend was to build up my stash of baby cards as I've not a one. What I ended up doing instead, was make a handful of wedding cards. I'm sticking to my plan this weekend and have started off with today's Clean & Simple Stamping sketch.

The background paper is DCWV Textured Pastels. The polka dotted strip is DCWV Nanna's Kids. The remaining paper is Stampin' Up - Very Vanilla, Certainly Celery and Apricot Appeal. The images are Heidi Grace Baby. The sentiment is Stampin' Up Short & Sweet.

I think this is a great gender-neutral baby card. I like the offset images and the colours work so well together. I'm hoping all my baby cards this weekend come together so well.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

What If, It's A Boy!

Hello everyone,

I found out today that the wife of one of my colleagues had a baby boy today! How wonderful!

The sketch was provided by Repeat Impressions What If? Wednesday ~ Sketch Challenge.

The paper is all Stampin' Up - Brocade Blue, Whisper White and Patterns Pack II. The background layer is embossed with the Sizzix Harlequin texture plate. The images are Heidi Grace Baby.

This was an irresistable sketch and one I'm likely to repeat. My colleague is not into anything fussy or fancy and this is, if I heard correctly, baby number 5, so I wanted to keep it all pretty simple. It turned out better than I anticipated. The Patterns Pack II papers were exactly the right touch.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.
