Missing You

Hello everyone,

Today's card is a simple miss you card.

The card base is Stampin' Up Whisper White.  The printed paper, Making Cards Wonderful Petals and Doodles, is layered on Close To My Heart Smoothie.  The image is IndigoBlu Ink Splat Butterfly stamped in Stampin' Up Apricot Appeal, Blush Blossom, Cameo Coral and Regal Rose on Recollections White.  The sentiment is My Favorite Things Brushstroke Expressions stamped in Versafine Onyx Black.  The card is highlighted with Diamond Stickles.

I really love this stamp but I'm never quite sure about using it because it's a splattered butterfly.  I thought using it for a 'miss you' card was appropriate.  I rather like the contrast between the vintage type rose paper and the more modern image.  The bold sentiment in black is in the design sweet spot and really pops.  It's a great result even with the dithering over the image.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Warm Butterfly Wishes

Hello everyone,

Today's post is a birthday card with a fun ink application.

The card base is The Paper Studio.  The image is IndigoBlu Ink Splat Butterfly stamped in Tsukineko Brilliance Pearlescent Chocolate, Crimson and Rust on a white of unknown origin.  The image is layered on a pale metallic copper of unknown origin.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up It's Your Birthday stamped in Versafine Onyx Black.

I truly love this stamp but am never quite sure about the message it sends.  I've slowly been sorting though some craft stuff and came across the few Tsukineko cat's eye inks that I'd kind of forgotten about.  I really love the pearlescent aspect of the ink and these three colours worked wonderfully together. I started with the lightest colour, working up to the darkest so the blending didn't totally mess up the ink pads. I dithered over the sentiment for far too long when I decided to just use this one from an old Stampin' Up set.  It doesn't show up as strongly as I'd like but I can live with it.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Pumpkin Pie Duo

Hello everyone,

Today's sentiment-less pair are, once again, autumn-inspired.

The card base is Stampin' Up Pumpkin Pie.  The image is Stampin' Up Medallion stamped in Cameo Coral, Close To Cocoa, Pumpkin Pie and Really Rust on a white of unknown origin.  The image is layered on a white of unknown origin.  The image is highlighted with Mercury Glass Stickles.

The card base is Stampin' Up Pumpkin Pie.  The image is IndigoBlu Ink Splat Butterfly stamped in Creamy Caramel, More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Bravo Burgundy, Summer Sun and Really Rust on a white of unknown origin.  The image is layered on Close To My Heart Sunflower.  The card is highlighted with EK Success Dots "Brights".

I love this Pumpkin Pie card base!  I chose images to which I could apply multiple colours of inks.  I used the little square spots because they're easier to control.  I'm particularly enamored with the Medallion image.  It's always been a favourite but it's somewhat tucked away so I don't always think to pull it out.  It's just striking on this card.  The butterfly image also turned out very well although it doesn't reflect the different ink colours as well as I would have hoped.

I hope you enjoy these cards and come back to SPI again soon.

Glittering Goodness

Hello everyone,

I'm back to posting the series of general purpose cards commissioned by one of my girlfriends.

The image is IndigoBlu Ink Plat Butterfly stamped in Stampin' Up Blackberry Bliss on Very Vanilla and layered on a glittered gold of unknown origin and Blackberry Bliss.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up Express Yourself stamped in Blackberry Bliss on more Very Vanilla and highlighted with Gold Stickles.

I recently crafted this card for my girlfriend for her birthday so I thought she'd get a kick out of another card with the same image in her commission.  I really love this stamp and wanted to see how it looked in a different ink colour.  I choose Blackberry Bliss because it is a really striking purple and the Stampin' Up ink pad is particularly juicy so it makes for much easier inking.  I wasn't particularly happy with the Wink of Stella and Sakura Clear Star glittering the last time I used this image so decided to forgo that element all together.  The gold Stickles works well enough with the glittered gold paper so there was no real need to add more sparkle.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Beautiful In Blue

Hello everyone,

Today's post is a birthday card I crafted for a girlfriend who celebrated her special day in late January.

The image is IndigoBlu Ink Splat Butterfly stamped in Close To My Heart Peacock on Recollections White and highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen and Wink of Stella Clear 999.  The image is layered on Close To My Heart Peacock and Paper Accents Glossy Mirror Silver.  The sentiment is Rubbernecker Happy Birthday heat embossed with Stampin' Up white embossing powder on Close To My Heart Peacock.

When I came across this stamp at my local scrapbook shop, I just had to put it in my basket.  It combines the grunge and butterfly graphics that I find so appealing.  I hadn't intended to glitter it up quite so much but after I'd applied the Sakura pen, I wasn't happy with the results so attempted to improve the shading with the Wink of Stella.  It's helped, but likely would have been more pleasing if I'd just left it alone in the first place.  Less can be more!  I really love the stamp and had a great time choosing which colour I'd use.  The layers are the new light/dark Close To My Heart paper and it worked wonderfully for this card.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.
