Formal Flourishes

Hello everyone,

Today's post is a really elegant, flourished 'birthday' card.

The card base is The Paper Studio.  The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on a brushed gold also of unknown origin.  The sentiment is Serendipity stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on a vanilla of unknown origin.  The embellishments are Toga Gold Pearls.

The printed paper is actually a piece of wrapping paper that I found in a little boutique.  I was drawn to the blues and golds.  The design is actually the perfect scale for cards and there are so many different dots and flourishes that there is no end of visual interest.  I chose this particular sentiment because the font worked perfectly with the printed paper.  I debated using a navy or blue ink but decided the black was great for the overall formal aspect of this card.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Golden Thanks

Hello everyone,

Today's post is a more formal 'thank you' card.

The card base is Recollections White.  The sentiment is Inkadinkado Thanks Words stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed in detail gold embossing powder.  The sentiment panel is layered on two gold paper scraps of unknown origin.  The embellishments are Toga gold pearls.

As soon as I started this series of 'thank you' cards for my girlfriend I knew I'd use this stamp.  I love the different languages and fonts.  Though it looks sophisticated, this is actually a very quick and easy card that came together in no time at all.  As I write this post, I'm imagining it in multiple colours like the earlier bold 'Thanks' cards.  I may not be as completely finished with this series as I thought!

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Asian Inspired Wishes

Hello everyone,

Today's post is a lovely Asian inspired birthday card.

The card base is The Paper Studio.  The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on Bazzill Gold Foil and Stampin' Up Ridinghood Red.  The sentiment is Altenew Birthday Builder stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on Recollections White and layered on more gold.  The embellishments are Toga Gold Pearls.

I really like this card.  It is so elegant.  The fans are so lovely.  In all the birthday sentiment I have in my stash, I was pleased to find one that was Asian in style.  The red and gold colour combination works beautifully.  Again this is a tried and true layout.  I think it's a lovely card.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

In Brown and Gold

Hello everyone,

Today's card is a birthday card with a Middle Eastern feel.

The card base is Stampin' Up Early Espresso.  The printed paper is Toga Saveurs d'Orient layered on Bazzill Gold Foil.  The sentiment is Sweet & Sassy Script Birthdays stamped in Early Espresso on Recollections Vanilla and layered on more gold foil.  The embellishments are Togo Gold Pearls.

I love this card!  The browns and golds are so sophisticated.  The images are the perfect scale for a card.  I love the font mimicking the gold swirls behind the flowers.  Adding the gold pearls was a no brainer.  A really great result.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Paisley Floral Sympathy

Hello everyone,

Today's post is another sympathy card in the series I've been crafting.

The card base is Stampin' Up Soft Suede.  The printed paper is Toga Saveurs d'Orient layered on Recollections Vanilla and a light green of unknown origin.  The sentiment is Close To My Heart Sincere Expressions stamped in Soft Suede on more Recollections Vanilla.  The embellishments are Fabricland.

I love these paisley flowers!  This is a very simple layout.  Having the sentiment strip run the width of the card made adding these metal dots pretty easy.  The hints of gold in the flowers as well as the gold dots was enough embellishment for a sympathy car.  This was pretty quick and easy with a great result.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

A Pretty Peacock

Hello everyone,

Today's post is a 'thinking of you' card I crafted for a girlfriend.

The printed paper is Toga Saveurs d'Orient layered on Paper Accents gold.  The sentiment is Papercrafts General Sentiments stamped in Stampin' Up Early Espresso ink on Recollections Vanilla.  The embellishments are Close To My Heart Mocha Opaques.

I absolutely love this peacock image.  It's got hints of gold which I coordinated easily with a piece of Paper Accents gold.  I placed the sentiment higher up on the card as I didn't wanted to cover any more of the image than necessary.  The embellishments speak to the dots in the printed paper.  This is an amazingly quick and easy card with a really wonderful result.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Red And Gold

Hello everyone,

The next couple of posts are special Christmas cards which a colleague commissioned for his wife and daughter to coordinate with the awesome trip he's arranged for them.

The card base is Artoz Klondike.  The layers are Toga l'or de Bombay, a foiled red of unknown origin, and a mirror gold of unknown origin, The top layer is embossed with Ultimate Crafts Christmas Poinsettia embossing folder and highlighted with Xmas Red Stickles.  The vertical element is Little Yellow Bicycle Lace Paper Poinsettia.  The sentiment is Verve Glad Tiding stamped in Stampin' Up Cherry Cobbler on a shimmery vanilla of unknown origin.

The theme of these two cards is Christmas in Spain.  I couldn't find a particular Spanish Christmas element to use so I turned to the colours of Spain, red and gold.  I choose to use the poinsettia on this card because I had this beautiful embossing folder that I'd yet to play with.  I also thought the strip of glitter poinsettia paper would be utterly striking against this mirror gold.  The most challenging part of this card was taking the photo because my camera really didn't like this shiny gold paper.  I think this is one of the most beautiful Christmas cards I've ever crafted.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Swirling Snowflakes

Hello everyone,

A Christmas card today is traditional but it's not either.

The printed paper is Toga Étoile d'hiver layered on Stampin' Up Early Espresso.  The image is Inkadinkado stamped in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla and layered on more Early Espresso and Whisper White.  The embellishments are Close To My Heart Brown and Tan sparkles.

I would never think to use white and vanilla together but its utterly perfect in this case.  I hope you get a good sense of it from the photo.  This card is actually incredible in real life!  The swirls in the paper and the image are perfect together.  The snowflakes work equally perfect together too.  I want to make this card over and over and over again.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Dashing Dasher

Hello everyone,

I'm back to the Christmas cards that I've been commissioned to craft.  This is one of my favourites.

The printed paper is TOGA Petit Bloc etoile d'hiver layered on a blue/grey metallic paper of unknown origin.  The vertical strip is more of the blue/grey metallic paper.  The image is Stampin' Up Dasher stamped in Early Espresso on Whisper White and heat embossed with Close To My Heart Silver Pearl.  The sentiment is Annabelle Stamps Jewelled Tree also stamped in Early Espresso on Whisper White.  Both the image and sentiment were layered on more of the blue/grey metallic paper.  The embellishments are Close To My Heart Licorice Opaques.

On of the Christmas card sets I've been commissioned to craft is for a male colleague.  I had him in mind when I crafted this card because it's not too frou frou and he can handle a little bit of the non-traditional.  This card is very natural thanks to the TOGA paper. This Close To My Heart Silver Pearl embossing powder (which has been discontinued) is my favourite.  I love how it transforms a simply inked image into a thing of unexpected beauty.

I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Marvelously Manly I & II

Hello everyone,

With less than a month before the Fall charity card sale, I've decided it's time to get going on the masculine one sheet wonder series that I had planned.  Given manlier cards are generally fuss-free, I figured these cards should be straight out simple.  I'm going to see what I can use from the scrap bin, keep embellishments and no frou frou.  These are intended to be quick and easy but hopefully won't look it.

The patterned paper is Stampin' Up Well Worn layered on Not Quite Navy using a Soft Suede card base.  The sentiment is from Toga, stamped in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla and layered on Soft Suede.  The embellishment are of unknown origin.

The patterned paper, Stampin' Up Well Worn, is layered on Soft Suede.  The sentiment, from Toga, is stamped in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla and layered on Soft Suede and Not Quite Navy.

I think this is a great start to the series.  These cards highlight this wonderful designer series paper and pretty great layouts, if I do say so myself.

I hope you enjoy these cards and come back to SPI again soon.

Boy Wonder IX & X

Hello everyone,

Today I'm posting the last two cards in the boy one sheet wonder series I've been working on for the Fall card sale at the office.  Both this series and the girl series were a ton of fun to craft.  Really quick and easy cards.

The printed paper is BoBunny On The Go layered on Stampin' Up Wild Wasabi and More Mustard.  The sentiment is Toga which is stamped in Pacific Point.  The sticker is TPC Studio Transportation Chipboard.

The printed paper is BoBunny On The Go layered on Stampin' Up More Mustard and Pacific Point.  The sentiment is Stampendous stamped in Pacific Point on Whisper White.

Another two great cards to finish up this latest series.  Both cards use on scrap pieces from the leftover bin and came together as easily as the previous cards.  It is so much fun to find an awesome piece of paper that turns into some really wonderful cards.

I hope you enjoy these cards and these latest one sheet wonders and come back to SPI again soon.

Boy Wonder V & VI

Hello everyone,

Two more super simple boy one sheet wonder cards for you today.

The printed paper is BoBunny On The Go.  The sentiment is Hero Arts Small Greetings.  The sticker is TPC Studio Transportation Chipboard.

The printed paper is BoBunny On The Go.  The solid papers are Stampin' Up More Mustard, Pacific Point and Wild Wasabi.  The sentiment is Toga, stamped in Pacific Point on Whisper White and layered on Basic Black.

Both these cards were ridiculously simple.  An easy layout with a simple sticker and sentiment.  A few scraps from the bin in a simple graphic layout.  Couldn't be easier and more perfect for a couple of boy kid cards, though you could give them to a big kid too if inclined.

I hope you enjoy these cards and come back to SPI again soon.

Boy Wonder III & IV

Hello everyone,

Today I'm posting cards three and four in my latest one sheet wonder series.

The printed paper is BoBunny On The Go layered on Stampin' Up Pacific Point, More Mustard and Basic Black.  The sentiment is Stampin' Up Sassy Salutations stamped in Pacific Point on Whisper White.  The embellishments are of unknown origin.

The printed paper is BoBunny On The Go layered on Stampin' Up Wild Wasabi.  The sentiment is Toga stamped in Pacific Point on Whisper White.

It seemed unusual to use black card stock on a kids card but it just seemed to work with the black wheels and highlights of the printed paper.  I also just had to use a sentiment from this set which is so very fun and perfect for a kid!  It can be tough to craft a card with such a tiny piece of printed paper but once I pulled this scrap of Wild Wasabi out of the bin, it just came together.  I wasn't crazy about it at first blush but in the light of day, it works great!

I hope you enjoy these cards and come back to SPI again soon.

Boy Wonder I & II

Hello everyone,

Today I'm starting to post the boy one sheet wonder cards that I crafted for the charity card sale at work this fall.  Like the girly girl series, I went through my stash to find a great piece of paper and this is just perfect for a little boy.

The printed paper is BoBunny On The Go layered on Stampin' Up More Mustard and Pacific Point.  The sentiment is Sweet 'n Sassy Birthday Greetings stamped in Pacific Point on Whisper White.

The printed paper is BoBunny On The Go layered on Stampin' Up More Mustard.  The sentiment is Toga stamped in Pacific Point on Whisper White.  The embellishments is Sassafras Zoom Zoom Felties.

Once I selected the paper and got the layout cut, it didn't take any time to pull these cards together.  I didn't dwell on layout or embellishments.  With boy/male cards it always seems best to keep it simple.  It's fun to just let the mojo flow.

I hope you enjoy these cards and come back to SPI again soon.

The printed paper is K&Company Butterfly Flat Paper layered on Stampin' Up Melon Mambo and Gable Green.  The sentiment is TOGA which is stamped in Melon Mambo.  The embellishments are Autumn Leaves adhesive rhinestones.

Like some of the earlier cards in this series, these cards use simple layouts, scrap paper and minimal embellishments to crafts very lovely cards.  Just what one sheet wonder cards ought to be.

I hope you enjoy these cards and come back to SPI again soon.

Girly Girl III & IV

Hello everyone,

Today I'm posting the next two card is my girly girl one sheet wonder project.

The printed paper is K&Company Butterfly Flat Paper layered on Stampin' Up Gable Green and Melon Mambo.  The sentiment is from Verve stamped in Melon Mambo on Whisper White. The embellishments are brads of unknown origin.

The printed paper is K&Company Butterfly Flat Paper layered on textured Stampin' Up Melon Mambo.  It is highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.  The sentiment is Toga stamped in Melon Mambo on Whisper White. The embellishments are Autumn Leaves.

I'm so happy with these cheerful and oh so colourful cards.  I never thought I'd ever use this bright Gable Green paper but it works great with this paper.  To me, part of the point of a one sheet wonder is to keep it very, very simple and these cards do that exactly.  These are scraps of paper, easy layouts and basic embellishments.  They are just perfect for what I had in mind for girly girl cards.

I hope you enjoy these cards and come back to SPI again soon.
