Hello everyone,
Today's birthday card post is so softly sweet.
The printed paper is of unknown origin layer on Stampin' Up Pale Plum. The sentiment is Crafter's Companion Die'sire Happy Birthday die cut from Stampin' Up Mellow Moss. The embellishments are rhinestones of unknown origin.
I just love this piece of printed paper. The colours are so soft and the less defined images are really appealing. It took me a while to find a paper for the sentiment. I didn't want to use something really dark because it would be too harsh for the paper. I debated using more Pale Plum but it would have gotten 'lost' against the background. I think this choice works. It's still easily read and keeps the soft feeling of the overall card. I do love the purple and green colour combination.
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Waves of Circles
Hello everyone,
Today's birthday card is a more neutral card.
The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on Close To My Heart Magenta. The sentiment is Magenta stamped in Close To My Heart Juniper on Recollections Vanilla and layered on circles punched from Close To My Heart Bamboo. The embellishments are of unknown origin.
I love the pattern and the colours on this printed paper. I'm often drawn to shades of blue and this has some wonderful colours. I repeated the circles as a border for the sentiment and I think it works really well. This is one of my favourite sentiment as it can be either horizontal or vertical. It's as funky as the paper.
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Like A Rock
Hello everyone,
Today's birthday card post couldn't be more masculine
The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on Stampin' Up Early Espresso. The sentiment is Altenew Halftone Happy die cut from and stamped on Recollections Vanilla. The 'birthday' is stamped in Altenew Rocky Shore. The embellishments are copper studs of unknown origin.
This paper shouldn't work for a card but it surprisingly does! I love these rocks and when I came across this scrap I thought it would be worth trying it on a card. I love the different colours in the rocks as it makes for easy colour coordination. I used a bigger scale die cut for the happy with a vanilla paper because it's as striking as the background paper but very easy to read. I'm so pleased with the results.
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Super Stripes
Hello everyone,
Today's post is another really fun birthday card!
The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on Close To My Heart Glacier and Recollections White. The sentiment is Gina K Pleasant Plurals stamped in Altenew Industrial Diamond on more Recollections White. The embellishments are of unknown origin.
This card couldn't be simpler! These colourful diagonal striped are the perfect background for a quick and easy card. I've had these shiny butterfly embellishments since my 21-year-old daughter was little (I seem to find them in the darnedest places!) but they worked wonderfully for this card. I did add a couple of rhinestones for just that little extra sparkle.
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.!

Birthday Doodles
Hello everyone,
The birthday card I'm posting today is just fun!
The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on Close To My Heart Smoothie. The sentiment is Impression Obsession Die 174-W Greetings Set cut from Recollections White and adhered to more Smoothie. The embellishments are Crafts Rhinestone Strips.
It took me a while but I have realized that white die cut sentiments actually work really well as an alternative to inked sentiments. In this particular case, I love how the white just pops against the smoothie. It will be very easily read but the resident. This paper is fantastic! I love the different colours of the doodles as they allow for easily colour coordination and they're the perfect scale for these smaller cards. They're also better than you'd think for adding randomly placed rhinestones.
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Prettily Patterned
Hello everyone,
Today's birthday card post is quite fancy.
The printed paper is TaDa Moscow layered on Recollections White and Stampin' Up Bermuda Bay. The sentiment is Penny Black Special Time stamped in Avery Elle New Moon on Recollections White. The embellishments are of unknown origin.
It's the paper and the font that make this card fancy. I've always loved this piece of TaDa paper and use it judiciously. I'm particularly drawn to the colours and really love the pattern. I have the coordinating stamp but haven't really done any experimenting. I didn't really need to add the blue pearls but I do like how they fill up some of the really blank space in the corners. I suspect if I'd layered the sentiment panel instead of just using dimensionals it may have achieved the same thing.
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Winged Whimsy
Hello everyone,
Today's post is another lovely feminine birthday card.
The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on Stampin' Up Pale Plum. The sentiment is Avery Elle Sentimental Too stamped in Stampin' Up Pale Plum and Altenew Lavender Fields on Recollections White and layered on more Pale Plum. The embellishments are pearls of unknown origin.
I've been crafting cards with this lovely butterfly paper for quite a few years and this is the last usable piece. I left a somewhat larger reveal with the layers but I think the thicker border works pretty well. I used a sentiment stripe the entire width of the card because the 'tails' of the font would go over the edge. I was inspired by the font in the pearl placement but while I don't dislike it, it's not my favourite .
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

A Birthday Garden
Hello everyone,
Today's post is another example of a super quick and easy birthday card.
The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on Recollections White and a dark pink Bazzill. The sentiment is Serendipity stamped in Stampin' Up Mossy Meadow. The card is highlighted with White Opal Liquid Pearl.
This card is actually very similar to one that I did for the last commission. I love the cheerful garden and with careful trimming, the card couldn't come together more easily. I obviously finished this card before I read this Simplicity blog post about placing embellishments in irregular visual triangles.
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Argyle & Grunge
Hello everyone,
Today's birthday card post is a more masculine card.
The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on Bazzill Blue Calypso. The sentiment is Close To My Heart Happy Birthday stamped in Altenew Pure Graphite. The sentiment panel was stamped with Close To My Heart Fabulous You and Stampin' Up Gorgeous Grunge on Recollections White with Altenew Lagoon, Volcano Lake and Mountain Mist, and was layered on more Blue Calypso. The embellishments are from Fabricland.
I thought this argyle was perfect for a masculine birthday card. The colours were also perfect for this type of card. I thought using the 'grunge' images under the sentiment contrasted nicely with the formality of the printed paper. The silver stud embellishments bring it all together.
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Spring Plaid
Hello everyone,
Today's post is another example of simple yet lovely birthday card.
The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on a pink Bazzill and Close To My Heart Sweet Leaf. The sentiment is Joy Crafts Sayings 6410/0308 stamped in Stampin' Up Early Espresso on Recollections White and layered on more pink Bazzill. The embellishments are rhinestones of unknown origin.
As I crafted these cards I tried to keep in mind that larger and darker sentiments would be much easier for the residents to read. This Joy Crafts sentiment served the purpose especially well. I was especially pleased at how well the font worked with the brown lines in the plaid paper. I used very tiny rhinestone where the brown lines in the plaid intersected and it added just the right amount of sparkle. I really love the results.
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Cheerful Spring Wishes
Hello everyone,
Today's post is a lovely spring birthday card.
The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on an orange Bazzill. The sentiment is Gina Marie All Seasons stamped in Altenew Olive on Recollections White. The butterfly embellishment is from Multicrafts.
With a commission of over 100 cards, I realized quite quickly that I was going to have to keep the cards quite simple. This is a great example of really quick and easy card. The background paper is striking! A simple punched sentiment and a sweet embellishment bring it all together. A great result!
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Wall of Happy
Hello everyone,
Today's post is a really great monochromatic masculine birthday card.
The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on a blue Bazzill. The sentiment is Stampin' Up Happy Celebrations stamped in Altenew Desert Night, Dusk and Ocean waves on a light grey of unknown origin.
This is the simplest of cards which focuses on the printed paper. There is something about the blue wall that I thought would work well for a card. The scale is great and I'm always drawn to blues. I think part of the reason why this works so well is actually the sentiment. It's a bold font and the layering adds interest. Keeping the layout simple, without extra embellishments, also make for a great result.
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

So Happy
Hello everyone,
Today’s post is another really cheerful birthday card.
The printed paper is BasicGrey Euphoria layered on Close To My Heart Sweet Leaf. The sentiment is cut from the Altenew Happy die in Close To My Heart Raspberry and Avery Elle Sentimental Too stamped in Close To My Heart Sweet Leaf on Recollections White. The embellishments are Crafts Rhinestone Stickers.
I only ever had one 12 X 12 sheet of this BasicGrey paper and I’ve been using it for quite a while. I really like that it’s somewhat funky and there are many different color choices for coordinating. I’m really enjoying using more sentiment die cuts and this particular Altenew die is wonderful!
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Cheerful Wishes
Hello everyone,
In late February I received another birthday card commission from a local senior’s residence. It is, by far, the largest order I’ve ever fulfilled so over the next few months (notwithstanding Christmas In July) I’ll be posting this latest birthday card series. I hope you enjoy the cards.
The printed paper is of unknown origin layered an orange and yellow Bazzill. The sentiment is Stampin’ Up Perfect Punches stamped in Altenew Autumn Blaze on Recollections white and layered on a Bazzill yellow banner. The embellishments are of unknown origin.
I really like this cheerful birthday card. The embellishments were originally white but I painted them pink because I thought they’d be better coordinated with the background paper. I added a few gems to the sentiment to ‘match’ the flowers. This is a super simple and quick layout with a great result.
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Striking Congrats
Hello everyone,
I'm posting a quick and easy congratulations card today.
The card base is Stampin' Up Island Indigo. The focal layer is a piece of Ranger alcohol inked glossy paper layered on a mirrored silver and a white of unknown origin. The sentiment is Avery Elle Oh Happy Day stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on a white of unknown origin and layered on more mirrored silver.
As often happens, the inspiration for this card when I found this piece of alcohol inked paper as I was looking for the piece I used in yesterday's card. I didn't have anything in particular in mind when I made this piece of paper. I was just experimenting with a bunch of different alcohol inks and rubbing alcohol. I really love the results and the colours are just fantastic. I wanted to keep the focus on this beautiful piece of paper so I just kept the layout simple and left off any extras. I could easily craft these types of cards all the time!
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Pretty In Purple
Hello everyone,
Today's post is a birthday card crafted for a girlfriend.
The card base is Stampin' Up Elegant Eggplant. The images are Stampin' Up Bordering On Romance stamped on a white of unknown origin with Versafine Onyx Black and clear heat embossed. The images were painted with LuminArte Emerald, English Lavender, Mango Mambo, Royal Orchid and Sugar Plum. The sentiment is Stampendous Retro Happy Birthday stamped in Versafine Onyx Black. The image/sentiment panel is layered on a Ranger alcohol-inked glossy paper and more white of unknown origin.
My girlfriend's power colour is purple so I wanted it to be the theme of her birthday card. As I was painting, I figured it would be 'cool' to layer with some alcohol inked paper and I was relieved to find a piece in my stash that worked so perfectly. I have to say, I'm having a lot of fun using coloured card bases. In my mind, it certainly makes my cards more interesting.
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Baby Boy Happiness
Hello everyone,
Our neighbors just became grandparents for the first time and I wanted to give them a special card.
The card base is Stampin' Up Baja Breeze. The printed paper is Echo Park "Bundle of Joy" Its A Boy layered with Early Espresso and Gumball Green on a white of unknown origin. The sentiment is Avery Elle So Happy stamped in Early Espresso on Recollections White. The ribbon and brad are of unknown origin.
Our neighbors are really wonderful and are going to be awesome grandparents! It was really fun to craft them this card. I was tempted to craft them a vintage card but the images I have are all pretty girly. This paper however is not at all feminine and so perfect for baby boy cards. I debated adding some embellishment to the green panel but in the end, the ribbon was enough! One glittery blue brad to hold the sentiment also seemed just right! A fantastic result.
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

More Meow Wishes
Hello everyone,
Today's post was commissioned by a colleague for his wife's birthday.
The card base is Stampin' Up So Saffron. The printed paper is Photoplay Meow Mix layered on a Bazzill white and Stampin' Up Bashful Blue. The images are Plaid All Night Media Cats stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on a white of unknown origin and layered on more Bashful Blue. The embellishments are Eyelet Outlet Enamel Dots.
My colleague didn't offer much when I asked what he'd like for this card but he did say that he wife liked cats. I hope she really, really likes cats! She's mom to two boys so I was tempted to go girly but then decided my colleague would be more comfortable giving her a more neutral card. It's got cats! I truly love this paper (I have the dog version too) but it's hard to place the pieces without covering up these awesome kitties. I also need to be careful that I don't trim it and leave a cat butt highlighted! That would just be wrong!
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

For My Mother
Hello everyone,
Today's card was crafted for my Mom!
The card base is Bazzill Cardinal Red. The printed paper is of unknown origin layered on a white of unknown origin and Recollections Black. The sentiment is Inkadinkado Happy Days stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on Recollections White, layered on more Cardinal Red and highlighted with Xmas Red Stickles.
While I've had this card crafted for a few weeks, I couldn't post it until Mother's Day otherwise I'd ruin my Mom's surprise. My mother has a 'thing' for ladybugs (and strawberries) so when I came across this paper I knew I had to use it for one of her cards. The font of the sentiment is a little fancy for the simply drawn ladybugs but this is a pretty large card that needed a decent sized sentiment. I think the two different fonts used help make it work just fine. I love the result and I'm confident my mother will as well.
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Simply Serene
Hello everyone,
Today's post is a birthday card I crafted for a girlfriend who loves the outdoors and has had a pretty tough year.
The card base is Stampin' Up Pistachio Pudding. The printed paper is Stampin' Up Sweet Sorbet layered on a white of unknown origin. The image panel is Stampin' Up Waterfront stamped on more white of unknown origin with Altenew Sand Dunes, Evening Gray, Frayed Leaf and Sunkissed, and Stampin' Up Bordering Blue. The sentiment is Gina Marie All Seasons stamped in Versafine Onyx Black. The embellishments are My Mind's Eye 'Lost & Found' Oliver enamel dots.
Ikat prints have been growing on my for the past few years. Though from the same designer series as the previous two cards, this print is remarkably different. I though it would be a good background for the serene image I'd intended. It's not quite as stark in reality as this photo appears. The colours I used in this card as ones that my girlfriend is drawn too. She also lives on the water and takes advantage of kayaking on the river whenever she needs some respite. I really hope this card will keep that serenity going.
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Hello everyone,
I crafted today's card for the mother of a girlfriend who really enjoys I SPI cards.
The card base is Stampin' Up Crisp Cantaloupe. The printed paper is Stampin' Up Sweet Sorbet designer series paper. The vertical border was cut with the EK Success Chinese Knot Chain border punch from Stampin' Up Pistachio Pudding. The sentiment is Just Rite Large Fancy Sentiments stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on a white of unknown origin. The card is highlighted with Diamond Stickles.
I just discovered that I've been describing this border punch incorrectly for years! That's a little disturbing as I'm usually very careful labeling my punches. I really like this cheerful card. It a very different card from yesterday even though many of the elements are the same. This is what makes me so happy when I'm making cards!
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

A New Home
Hello everyone,
Today's post is a special card for a girlfriend who, after many, many delays, is finally moving into her new home!
The card base is Stampin' Up Summer Starfruit. The printed paper is Stampin' Up Sweet Sorbet designer series paper layered on Pool Party. The sentiment is Creative Expressions Scribbled Sentiments 'Occasions' stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on a white of unknown origin. The ribbon is of unknown origin. The embellishments are White Opal Liquid Pearls.
In addition to making a concerted effort to use up some of the oodles of card stock I have in my stash, I'm also aiming to use up some of the printed paper I've been hoarding for years! The next couple of cards uses some of the Sweet Sorbet paper I came across while looking for inspiration. This is great printed paper because it offer many coordination options. Note only are the images a great scale for cards but the tiny hints of black work great with the black ink of the sentiment. This is a pretty standard layout for me. I particular like how the sentiment is reminiscent of a banner!
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

All That Glitters
Hello everyone,
Today's post is a birthday card I crafted for a girlfriend.
The card base is Close To My Heart Sunny Yellow. The image is Annabelle Stamps Square Posies stamped in Stampin' Up Early Espresso on a vanilla of unknown origin. The image was coloured with Martha Stewart Brownstone and Peridot glitter, and Stickles Yellow Dry Fine glitter. The image was layered on a glittered brown of unknown origin. The sentiment was cut from more glittered brown with Altenew Halftone Happy die and stamped with more Early Espresso. The 'birthday' was highlighted with Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen. The embellishments are Crystal Stickers Mark Richard 5 mm brown Glitter Dome stickers.
My girlfriend love black eyed Susan's and glitter so it was a no-brainer to use glitter on this image. It's not necessarily a black eyed Susan flower but it was a great image for applying glitter. I had just enough leftover brown glitter paper after cutting the layer to use it for the 'happy' die cut and I love the results. I'm not sure what inspired the layout but I think it works great! I used the triangle design theory to apply the embellishments and I'm really happy with the results. A sparkly and happy card for a sparkly and happy woman!
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Meow Wishes
Hello everyone,
Today's post is the birthday card I crafted for my brother.
The card base is Stampin' Up So Saffrom. The printed paper is Photoplay Meow Mix layered on Recollections Black. The sentiment is cut with Altenew Halftone Happy die from a white of unknown origin and stamped with Marina Mist. The embellishments are My Mind's Eye "Lost & Found" Oliver enamel dots.
I always love crafting funny cat cards for my brother. In this case, I love how the brown cat with the glasses is peeking over the 'happy'. It actually took me a while to figure out the best placement for the word. This is a great sheet of paper which works equally well for either masculine or feminine cards.
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Golfing Father's Day
Hello everyone,
While I was already focused on the golf-theme I decided it was a good time to craft my husband's Father's Day card.
The card base is Stampin' Up Wild Wasabi. The image is Karen Foster Men's Tee Time Stickers adhered on Stampin' Up Pacific Point and Recollections White. The sentiment is Stampin' Up Delightful Dozen stamped in Pacific Point. The embellishments are Eyelet Outlet golf ball brads affixed to banners punched from more Pacific Point.
This card turned out so much better than I anticipated. While choosing coloured card bases isn't terribly difficult, it's not as easy as I think it should be. I seem to be choosing all the elements before the card base so I find a colour that coordinates reasonably well. That's a step I don't have to do when using only white or vanilla card bases. I've also had to keep in mind adding a white panel on the inside of the card so the writing is suitably visible. I'll get the hang of it!
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Golfing Birthday
Hello everyone,
Today's post is another birthday card that I crafted for my husband.
The card base is a blue of unknown origin. The stamped image is Stampin' Up On The Green stamped in Always Artichoke on Very Vanilla. The images are Scrappin' Sports Golf Balls stickers. The sentiment is Rubber Cafe C-385 Happy Birthday stamped in Always Artichoke on Very Vanilla. The images and sentiment are layered on Always Artichoke and Very Vanilla.
For those who regularly follow my blog, you'll recognize that golf-themed cards are pretty standard for cards I craft for my husband. I borrowed this stamp from a girlfriend and stamped multiple images in a variety of colours a long time back. The layout is a pretty standard 'Z' pattern. I didn't add any extra embellishments because I liked the simplicity of the overall result.
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Piano Player
Hello everyone,
Today's post is a special piano birthday card that I crafted for one of my sisters.
The card base is a white Bazzill. The various layers are Recollections Black, a white of unknown origin and Stampin' Up Real Red. The sentiment is Gina K Block Greetings stamped in Versafine Onyx Black. The key lines were drawn with Tombow black. The ribbon is of unknown origin. The card is highlighted with Diamond Stickles.
This is not a usual card for me but I was in the mood to try something a little different. I found a similar card while surfing Pinterest and it seemed ideal for my piano playing sister. I love the red/white/black colour combination. I did a dry run with the piano top using scrap paper that I traced onto the black card stock to cut out. I'm not good at free handing things so I figured it was the best way to avoid wasting a lot of paper. It only took me a couple of attempts to get it the shape I wanted. I really love the result and I'm really confident that my sister will love it!
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Natural Wishes
Hello everyone,
Today's post is a birthday card for a friend who loves the outdoors.
The card base is Recollections Kraft. The image is Stampin' Up Waterfront stamped on a vanilla of unknown origin with Stampin' Up Baja Breeze and Sage Shadow, Close To My Heart Heather, Whisper, Pebble and Slate, and Altenew Sea Glass. The sentiment is Flonz Happy Birthday stamped in Close To My Heart Slate. The image panel is layered on Baja Breeze and Early Espresso. The twine is from Target.
I borrowed this stamp set from a girlfriend and cased the card because I had no idea what to do with it. The results are exactly what I'd hoped for. I love the muted tones and the softness of the image. I'm going to play with this set some more because I think I could come up with some more really great masculine cards.
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Milestone Birthday
Hello everyone,
Today's post is the birthday card I crafted for my daughter's upcoming birthday.
The card base is Stampin' Up Lemon Lime Twist. The background image is Local King Rubber Stamp - Garden Delight stamped on a white of unknown origin with Aurora Color Box ink and layered on Recollections Black. The image is Stamp Oasis also stamped on a white of unknown origin in Versafine Onyx Black and layered on more Recollections Black. The sentiment is Joy Crafts Sayings 6410/0308 stamped in Versafine Onyx Black. The embellishments are Bazzill Clear 3-4 mm jewels.
I knew I wanted to craft a panda card for my daughter but I'm not sure if this was what I envisioned, though I love the results. This is a cute pair of pandas! The background stamp, one which I don't use that often, takes multiple inks wonderfully because the images are nicely spaced and any colour overlap still looks great. I think my daughter will love her card!
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

More Yellow Roses
Hello everyone,
Today's post uses some of the leftover pieces from yesterday's card.
The card base Stampin' Up River Rock. The sentiment is Flonz Happy Birthday stamped in Stampin' Up Early Espresso on a white of unknown origin and layered on Close To My Heart Lemon. The flowers are Altenew Vintage Flowers stamped in Citrus Burst, Forest Glades, Frayed Leaf, Fresh Lemon, Maple Yellow, Olive, and Warm Sunshine on a white of unknown origin and cut with the coordinating die. The embellishments are Crafts Rhinestone strips.
Just in case, I always stamp and cut a few extra pieces when I'm using Altenew images and dies. As a bonus, I often have enough pieces to craft a second (or third, or fourth) card. I really love these yellow roses. They are so bright and fresh on a gloomy spring day. I think I may have found the trick to placing the bling. As I was reading Susan Raihala's Simplicity blog last week, she wrote about bling placement using a visual triangle in this great post. This bling placement isn't too bad but the triangles are a little to equilateral. Though, adding bling to the small flowers do help.
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.

Milestone Anniversary
Hello everyone,
Today's post is a special 35th anniversary card commissioned by a colleague.
The image is layered on Close To My Heart Canary, Honey and New England Ivy. The flowers are Altenew Vintage Flowers stamped in Citrus Burst, Forest Glades, Frayed Leaf, Fresh Lemon, Maple Yellow, Olive, and Warm Sunshine on a white of unknown origin and cut with the coordinating die. The sentiment is Bonnidée French Wording #1 stamped in Altenew Evergreen. The embellishments are Crafts Rhinestone strips.
I really love crafting milestone anniversary cards using a wedding photo. I think it makes the card even more special. This colleague's chose yellow for their wedding colour and roses for their flowers so it was easy to pick out the coordinating colours. These flowers in yellow are pretty spectacular! I think the flowers have framed the photo wonderfully! I hope she loves the card as much as I do.
I hope you enjoy this card and come back to SPI again soon.
